you think giving KPJ $90millions would be a good deal?!? you'd be fired by Tillman and banned from all Landry's for 10yr if you're the GM of the Rockets
He is going to be a capable defender and a minor triple double threat, good scorer at that. He is worth at least 18-20 millions a year for sure but the thing is we do not know what the team needs. You have tons of scoring, scoring is not the most important part. 4 years is too much though given that I do not know how this team looks like in 2 years. Everything could have changed. Keep flexibility.
Indiana doesn't care. It's inconceivable the Nets will lose today. Our hope is in the plan-in. Atlanta is red hot. If they beat the Nets, anything can happen in the second game against Charlotte/Cleveland.
It’s got little to do with basketball. When a player has trouble managing themselves professionally on a rookie deal, how are they going to manage themselves at $90 million? On a low first round Rookie deal when he screws up, he’s got a problem because you can easily flush that deal, but at $90 million the Rockets have a huge problem because no one is taking that problem off your hands & it hurts your cap. You better be sure this kid’s mental makeup.
i think it’s only prudent to wait and see how next season plays out before giving him an extension. Even if he gets more expensive, at least you have another year to gage whether there’s been progress on the maturity issue. I’ve come to believe that the talent is worth continuing to gamble on, provided there’s progress there.
Ask him to move off-ball and then judge his reaction as a data point into the extension calculus. He's not a good PG, and the Rockets need a good PG considering Green's ability to create shots for others is not a thing right now.
