Only a matter of time before women deal with the consequences of electing far right Christian nationalists into power since abortion is as ancient as civilization itself so she won't be the last woman charged with murder. I do wonder how far along she was though as I think most people are against late-term abortions but no doubt in my mind we'll be hearing many stories like this across the country.
Would definitely want to know more about this situation. My guess is that because she isn't a doctor the argument is that she committed murder and not an abortion in the medical sense. It's long been a situation in the law that in the case of an attack on a pregnant woman if the fetus is also killed that many states will consider that a murder even in states that have few restrictions on abortions.
Yes that is the situation but that is why I would like to know more about the case. For example I think her background will matter a lot.

That's a federal law. It's very specific and "self-induced abortion" is not part of (b). There is no law that I know of where "self-induced abortion" is murder.
None of them, probably. I imagine, being in Texas, she is being charged under 19.02(b). I think 19.06(1) is going to be the issue, unless she was not the mother. If she is not the mother and instead performed the abortion on someone else (and is not a medical professional that falls under 19.06(2-4)), then she would be subject to the general 19.02(b) murder statute. Whether or not you can kill a baby in utero apparently depends on either being the mother or being a "physician or other licensed health care provider" under specific circumstances.
I wonder if desperate woman will resort to coat hanger and other dangerous forms of self-induced abortions.
