I find folks who sht on kpj at pg for "not passing to green more" weird My concerns are His playstyle is like an inferior harden at playmaking. Kpj lacks/solemnly uses pnr or alley oops making our offense looking quite Vanillia and basic. The biggest issue to me with the green and kpj pairing is kpj = scoring first pg and green = ball dominant scorer being utilized as a spot up shooter (this is slowly changing) If kpj wants to b a scoring type pg which is fine, man needs to up his ppg to compensate for his lack of play making ability or learn how to pass better. We have seen kyrie, wb and scoring first pg work, but they average more than 15.4. Green on the other hand seems to want to take shots w/ only good passes or wants the ball so he can make his shots. Man is clearly an efficient scorer, but seem to refuses to take bad shots. Something has to give 4 this pairing 2 start winning. Kpj has to either upped his ppg more consistently or improve his ability to set his teammates up with even more higher quality shots. While green has to will himself to b more selfish and more aggressive rather then wait around for kpj to get him good shots. What is triggering to me is that folks pointing at his 6 assists per game and praising that's good enough to b a pg when we r still losing. Averagin 15 ppg + 6 assist as the main de facto pg, he has to do more a lot more if his other teammates aside from green r struggling. I think green and kpj pairing looks a lot better without wood. Maybe we r just lacking more defense in our lineup cause both kpj and green were on fire for a stretch of games and we still lost. If u point to the lack of offensive contributions by our other players that's on kpj for not setting them up with better shots as the pg.
Good positive trend. Doesn't change the fact that he lacks play making ability. I don't get y folks pulls up the assist numbers like it's gonna change my mind on what I see on the court. Kpj does not utilize alley oops, cuts and pnr at like all or enough. Passes that helps set his teammates up for more efficient easier shots. If he can score efficiently like the raptors games, then u can ignore that. Cause green didn't show up. Kpj performing well just further cements how expendable wood is, even when folks were clamoring how vital he is with his 20/10 performances.
We've seen the flashes and seems like he's trying to be more focused and consistent with his game. He needs to crush this offseason to improve his game, he was blessed with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity with his talent. This is the window of time to make it happen, and he shouldn't take it for granted. Get better every single day skill-wise, athletically, and mentally this summer, work with a team. Time to mature and develop into a true pro, and get the bag with next year's improvement. Either way, a decision will be made based on what he's shown the league in four years.
Bro. I pass the ball to u. U go convert a shot by beating your man with your own skill, I'm a good point guard since I get an assist? Idk how anyone watching the game seeing that kpj doesn't use any pnr, alley oops and cuts can come to a conclusion he's a good playmaker just bc he puts up assist number.
8 assists a game over a season would be solidly top 10 league-wide. But sure, he just lucked into each one.
He doesn't average 8 assist a game, that a number a poster pulled out. In a small sample size of 10 games. Idk if that's even verifiable or something he pulled out of his a$$. Kpj has more assist than sengun does that mean hes a better passer? If u think so then u r just proving my point. And I said previously if KPj can score efficiently like he did in the raptors game It wouldn't matter if his passing game is lacking.
I think KPJ, at the moment, is a good but not great passer. But to say he’s a poor “playmaker” is ridiculous.
As a point guard not being able to utilize pnr, alley oops or seeing simple cuts. That's lacking play making ability. Something I been stating. Pointing at his assist average doesn't change that. Folks acting like I'm one of those weirdos who sht on kpj as a point guard cause he doesn't pass the ball enough to green.
That's the thing about mindless positions, no thought goes into them, so there's nothing that can change them.
That's rich coming from the king of sht takes. Absolutely nonway green average more pts than kpj. Kpj averages 20 pts Wood probably does it also
He does all of that. Whether or not he does it at an elite level is a legit question, but that’s not what you’re asserting.
KPJ has definitely shown quite a bit here in the second half of the year, and I think he can probably still get 10-15% better. My general rule is players are who they are by end of year 3 and can usually only make incremental improvements from there. Still not quite sure what to do with him. He has certainly shown some flashes. If he wasn't a headcase, I might try and keep him around as a possible sixth man, but I have concerns of locking him up in free agency and then demoting him (Say for instance if we nab Scoot Henderson in next years draft) , which might cause him to have another "incident". Since I don't think he has much trade value, I might just let his contract expire and see what kind of offers he gets in restricted free agency, then make a choice if you want to match. At that point, you will know who your 2023 draft pick is, and if it make sense to spend money on KPJ.
We r going back and forth. U keep pushing that with his good assist number he's a good play maker. I say he's lacking playmaking abilities cause he solemnly/barely or utilize any pnr, alley oops or cuts regardless of his assist numbers. High assist doesn't mean u r a good play maker. Sengun has less assist than kpj and I can state confidently that he has better play making ability than kpj.
You're comparing a prediction that didn't happen to come true due to an amazing 2 month stretch of play that I didn't think would happen this season to your really stupid comments that are already false.... that you want to somehow make non-falsifiable due to the fact that you seem to know they wouldn't stand up to ANY level of scrutiny. Hopefully you can see the difference between those 2 things.
This game, alone, contains multiple examples of plays you say he “never” does. But go ahead, keep hating.
Folks getting triggered when I think kpj lacks play making abilities. U can see that he tend to not utilize any of the passes that can set his teammates to ez buckets (alley oops, cuts, pnr). Oh he does it once every few game big whoopeedoo. Acting like high assist numbers disprove that take. High assist number doesn't always correlate to having great play making ability. Sengun averages less assist than kpj and he is praised as having great play making abilities with folks clamoring for him to run the offense. I can pass the ball to open 3 pt shooters and rack up 8 assist a game, dam I must have great play making ability due to my ability to rack up assists.
