If the Stros are out of it I will be rooting for the Twins. I get the feeling the Twins are more likely to be out of contention before the Stros.
The good news for them is that they only have to keep paying him till after the 2028 season no matter how he performs.
Good for him. Always seemed like a nice guy and did seem to get better with more playing time. Still love his Chris Devenski imitation.
I have mixed feeling on whether to root for Toro of Seattle or Correa of Minnesota. I want Seattle to lose because they are a division opponent and Correa just because he's in Minnesota.
At this point you could field an extremely good offense entirely with guys who were Astros farmhands since 2014. C Stassi 1B Beer 2B Kemp SS Correa 3B Rojas LF T. Hernandez CF Laureano RF Springer DH JD Davis Straw Toro With all of the talent we have traded or let move on you wouldn't think we would still have an open window. The system really has cranked out quality.
It's amazing how stacked our team is despite Cole leaving for the Yankees, Springer the BJays, Correa the Twins and Hinch managing the Tigers.
4.9.22: Toro 0-4, 1K Correa, 0-4, 3K, BB Grossman, 0-4 Garneau, 0-1, K Marisnick, 0-1, K Springer, 2-5, R, K, win over Rangers Teoscar, 0-2, K Kemp, 0-3, R, BB, K Straw, 0-4, but substantially richer Lyles, 5IP & 5 ER hopefully our current bats fare better today
Any particular reason for the dislike of the Twins? To me they're a team we really don't have any connections too, so I see them as just another team. No feelings against them. I always liked Mauer when he was playing there, and I think their broadcasting team is one of the better ones aside from ours.
