Two games left, Rockets in pole position for a Top 5 pick and are inherently more fun to watch than Cleveland, Toronto, Detroit and Orlando on top of having a brighter future than all of them. Outside of Christian Wood, it's been about as good a rebuilding year as you could hope for. Don't think they get to 1st in the lottery without him though.
Okay, you have a point but Toronto is pretty good, they are the 2nd hottest team after Boston in the East. They have a banging GM that could find the next undrafted guy that is borderline All Star (Van Fleet greets) OKC had the best future but underwhelming outcome in the end (with no championships, only 1 Finals, and disgruntled MVPs) The best outlook does not mean anything.
The same could be said about last year when people thought Cade, Green, Mobley, and Suggs were going top 4. One of the current top 4 will probably end up falling to 5 by the time the pre draft process is over.
Big game tonight Cleveland @ Brooklyn. Cavs are 7th, Nets 8th, Hawks 9th seed. It probably determines if the Rockets get an extra lotto pick. Cleveland is 43 - 37. The Nets and Hawks are 42 - 38. The Hawks play Houston and Miami. The Heat have clenched 1st in the East, the Rockets are tanking and want the Nets in the lotto, so both teams are incentivized to let the Hawks win. So Hawks probably end up 44-38. Nets have the tiebreaker over both teams. Nets last game is against Pacers, Cavs is against Bucks. So probably a Nets win and Cavs loss. If Cavs win, its most likely: Hawks 7th, Cavs 8th, Nets 9th. If Nets win, its most likely: Nets 7th, Hawks 8th, Cavs 9th. tldr; We want a Cavs win to get some extra ping pong balls and a better pick.
The tank has been worth it if we get either the next Shawn Bradley or Rashard Lewis. Losing sucks and I DO NOT want another tank. It's time to try and jump 5 or 6 spots in the standings, let this kids start learning how to close out games and win.
Not great odds. They helped the Rockets with an unexpected lost to Orlando, so maybe they can help us again with an unexpected win.
Yeah, never bought the Suggs hype. I always said that Barnes was my 2nd favorite player in draft and should be picked before Kuminga AND Suggs.
Mmm, I wouldn’t want to use a top pick on the next Shawn Bradley….. That would be a waste of a pick….
While I’m not as optimistic that we will compete for the play-in, I don’t think these predictions are as slam dunk as they are presented. Portland has two lottery pick to work with, so I can see them being able to reload, but the Lakers are no guarantee. and to say that the Pelicans will get Zion back and be good… will they? The chances of him being injured for a significant portion of the year are just as good as him being healthy.
Why? You'd rsther have 16th pick than 5th lol for no reason. If I were the one in charge I will go tank for one more season while we still have our pick and then go for 0.400 or better in 2024. The Rox bottomed out their roster a 1 yr tank job ain enough to fill up the cupboard.
Bro if we go for 3 top picks in a row we better not just be aiming for .400 OKC tanked 3 years and then next one had 50 wins . astros tanked 3 years and won a cHip and are perrenial contenders . No more tanking !
The two best players are the next Shawn Bradley and Rashard Lewis though. Sounds like you want to trade down?
