Agreed…. However they were still unlikely to win with this core, no? I’m guessing they saw no chance of truly contending and now they’ve accelerated the once every 8 year rebuild. Their best shot was 2020… and the Astros saw to that. I bet Beane wishes they had a full 162 and no extra seeds in the playoffs that year.
He's apparently a stupid good defensive 3rd baseman and had a lingering injury last season I'm surprised we don't see more risk for both sides deals like this, but the union really, really bangs the drum for players maximizing earning potential versus playing it safe.
That's a more than fair offer for a guy who will be 31 next season, is ginormous, and already has an injury history. Unnecessary gambling from my perspective, but that's the game they've trained their players to choose. You absolutely must maximize earnings, f**k risk.
Dammit! Judge is a great player and likely worth that deal. It is likely good early for the Yankees, but in 3-4 years would have been likely hurt them. Wow, the Yankees social media director throwing some shade at Cashman.
I hope he leaves and signs in Boston. Cant think of anywhere else NYY fans would get more upset about.
