It is beginning to feel a lot like Christmas...or at least the last time the Astros had a good prospect from Cuba in AAA.

@Snake Diggit or anyone that's gone to a game down in Sugar Land, my sister wanted to know for their "Barks and Brews" game on May 19th... if a fold up chair or lawn chair is permitted to be brought in?

She's tried reaching out to them on FB, Instagram and email with no reply yet. If anyone knows, that would be awesome.

Yikes. 5 walks huh? Guess that's the knock on him right? Control issues, anyway that is.

Sorry, I don’t know the answer to that. My guess would be that chairs are not allowed but blankets are ok.

Gotcha. Yeah, it's only been a day or two I think since she messaged them... so still time for May 19th. Cool man, thanks either way :)

For newbies, here is site with Astros minor league box scores: Astros Farm. Box scores are updated mostly in real time. There is a date selector near the top, where you select previous days's box scores.

Jimmy Price's site Astros Future has daily minor league game recaps. Price also posts to Crawfish Boxes.

Sounds like Coats looked extremely good in the exhibition game against Asheville last night. Can’t find a box score or anything but listened to an inning or so last night and they were raving about him, then saw a couple comments on twitter that he looked good.

That Astros Farm site is basically what Daren Willman (Baseball Savant) did until MLB acquired him, so that might've been around for some time already.

When he played in the Appalachian league, he only pitched 9.2 innings in 4 games, and he had 18 strikeouts, 8 walks, and 11 runs. That sounds like a guy that is a little wild to me. I imagine control and having a secondary pitch to complement his 98 mph fast ball will be the key for him getting called up. He's only 23 so he has a few years to develop. Him being coached by his dad early one probably hindered his growth. He was only throwing in the high 80's in highschool and didn't get much faster in college playing at HBU. Once he got real coaching, his fastball got up to 98 mph. I imagined he probably filled out a little bit. I bet he get to 100 mph by the beginning of next spring training with the coaching he gets in our farm system.

High variance but like you said the rawness provides a lot of ceiling. Starting with 100 mph velocity is a pretty good place. It means if he can throw strikes at all he will be a viable RP. If he can develop a 2nd pitch and command/control of that heat, then he could be elite. Will be fun watching him. Jim Stevenson is a badass.

That sucks for Ivey. He seemed to have a lot of potential… but I’ll take it as optimism for the injured guys on the 40 man roster who were 60 day IL candidates- especially Meyers and Mccullers

Lesson #8743 why trying to pitch through pain is a bad idea.

I get why he did it though.

    You stole my thunder

I think the injury really helped younger arms with more potential pass him up in the system.

After Click said " we aren't going to rush him" in reference to McCullers I was sure he was heading to the 60 day.

This is fantastic news for 2022 that neither Lance nor Jake are expected to be out beyond May.
