Ok, let me understand... You have lou williams on one end and kobe on the other... I said jalen is between them. Do you think he's better than kobe or worse than lou? I said he's closer to lou right now because he's primarily an efficient scorer and not a great all round player. Perhaps you think he's closer to kobe than lou but I'm basing my opinion on what he's doing now, not on his potential... personally i think he could be better than kobe as a scorer...kobe wasn't super efficient though...
Your entire point of bringing up Lou Williams was because you were attempting to beat up a strawman that people think Green is as good as prime Kobe now rather than just stating that's his ceiling.
Im talking style and skill in prime... if he makes no improvements, this is worst case... a better version of lou... elite scoring off the bench... Your beliefs otherwise are based on projections of things that might or probably will become true...

No, my point was lou is an elite scorer off the bench who does little else but still has an important role in contributing to winning... worst case we have a guy that's a better version of that if he doesn't improve like many reasonably expect of him...
If we are talking about style and skills, then he's definitely closer to Kobe because they are both 99.9 percentile athletes with immense scoring skills. Lou Williams was never that level of athlete. Lou Williams wasn't leading all NBA guards in dunks as a 20 year old rookie like Green. So no, they don't play the same way. Green is far more explosive seeing that he already leads all NBa guards in dunks already.
You just now brought up style. So you think Lou Williams ever was close to leading all NBA guards in dunks?
No doubt... But I'd prefer to get a PG that can get folks in the right sets... to not shuck and jive when they have a favorable match up, only to heave a last second shot or pass it out ... that can routinely make the timely pass leading to a bucket for teammates.... Knows his role and strengths for the team's success.. I like KPJ scoring potential but not as a primary decision maker... He can get those same stats in 25-28 minutes as a 6th man IMO.. Let him do his thing in stretches..
Dream sequence 1: Sengun Chet or Jab Porter Green Tyus Jones or Dream sequence 2: Sengun Chet or Jab Wood (if the team sticks with him, I think they will until they prove me they won't) Green Porter/ Tyus Wake up to reality: Wood Tate Gordon Green KJP Bench: Sengun Dennis! Matthews JGUP Chet or Jab(10 minutes)
Ok, except dunks then... just the other 95% of basketball... why are you so personally offended? I'm also not sure why dunks are aome great measurement... he's at 67... Ja is at 58, Thybulle at 58... heck, gary payton ii has 52 in about half the minutes (1182 to 2062) giving him a higher rate of dunking... Hamidou has a similar scenario... Seems like a meaningless stat....
The point flew over your head. His comparison to Kobe is due to his combination of elite athleticism and scoring skills. Lou over time made a deep bag for himself but he never was close to the athlete that those guys are. I don't know what is misleading here. Lou Williams was never a high flying finisher. He scored from creating separation from crafty dribble moves and a lot of heezies. He can't do things like merely rise up and take a contested jump shot merely from an ability to just jump higher than everyone else. Lou never had the acceleration and top end speed of someone like Kobe or Green. He didn't have the physical gifts that young Kobe and current Green have.
Like: Ben Simmons 4x champion of guard dunking? Russell Westbrook? Jimmy Butler Ben Mclemore (2014-15) Gerald Green Dwyane Wade Ronnie Brewer Andre Iguodala I'm not discounting your explosion point, just that dunk totals seem to be a poor indicator of great scoring efficiency or winning basketball.... there's good and bad with little correlation...
You are making claims and then shifting goal posts. I never said dunks lead to winning rings...wut? You said that Jalen Green's okay style is closer to Lou Williams than Kobe. I said that is completely wrong because Lou Williams was never the athlete that Green or Kobe were. Let me frame it this way:. Would Lou Williams ever lead all NBA guards in dunking? No because he isn't a above the rim type player. Jalen is an above the rim type player who also coincidentally has a deep bag skillsets for scoring. You really want to die on this Lou Williams comparison hill huh
Lou's career ts% 55.1% Jalen so far: 54.6% Perhaps "style" wasn't the right word... similarity in production perhaps? Pure scorer, limited in other areas... good shooting... As i said, Jalen is better, but he has a long way to go before 12 all defensive nba teams... 5 assists/5 rebounds seems like the low bar for a kobe, mcgrady, harden, level of 2 guard... I think he will get there but he's still good even if he doesn't... just a different role...
To be fair to Jalen, Kobe's 12 all defensive teams are the basketball equivelent to Derek Jeter's gold gloves. Grossly undiserved and reputation awards.
