He’s a warrior, but like Kansas’ bruiser McCormack, probably lacks the lateral quickness to be a first round pick.
McCormack is slow. He's late 1st to 2nd rounder. Bacot might be in mid to late 1st round. Mark Williams got good size, 7' tall and 7'7" wingspan.
I love the depth in this draft. Even though we don't need a 3rd player from this draft, I'd love to pick three times in the top 20. Someone like Hardy or Daniels in the 16-20 range feels like a lot of value.
Besides more size and shot blocking, Williams also seems more likely to be able to guard on the perimeter, which means he might go in the 10-20 range. McCormack will almost surely go undrafted, Bacot I could see going mid 2nd round.
I think if we are picking #4 or #5 we have to look at Sharpe. We don’t know if Ivey can play point, and if not we end up with another talented combo guard who doesn’t really fit with our franchise 2-guard. But if we draft Sharpe at 6’6” we have our franchise 3 who plays good D, plays well off the ball, and has as much upside as anyone in the draft.
I want Ousmane Dieng on this team. He’s officially my weirdo draft obsession. If the Rockets fall to sixth and Sharpe doesn’t enter, I take a hard look at him here. This would mean a trade down most likely as I don’t think I would take him that high but if there’s a potential star in there, you have to atleast exhaust all intel to make sure he’s not the next guy who everyone passed on. I take him with the Nets picks if he’s there and run
Holmgren is still at the top for me. Smith and Ivey are basically interchangeable at 2 and 3. I'd be thrilled with either guy, but don't feel confident which of the two I would prefer more. Banchero is a clear number 4 in my book. I don't think his skill set will ever allow him to be a game changer, but he is the safest bet to be a good player, and could potentially be a fringe all star if he develops a reliable 3 ball. There's a clear drop off after the top 4, but the unknown of Sharpe seems to be the best option at 5.
If we go with Smith, I wonder if KMJ can be the pf? Is there enough rebounding, Sengun KMJ Jabari Smith Green KPJ
Agree on everything except for a couple minor points. First, I have Smith slightly ahead of Ivey. Second, at 5, I’d go with Murray as the safe pick, Sharpe as the high-upside pick.
Since we’re likely going to have a top 7 pick at worst, this is my post-tourney, pre-combine board. 1. Chet 2. Smith 3. Ivey 4. Banchero 5. Murray 6. Sharpe (if he declares) 7. Griffin If we land at 7 AND Sharpe doesn’t declare, then I don’t know. Maybe Sochan? Him and Tate would create a nice defensive rotation at the wing.
I think he will probably go in the 2nd round. Patrick Baldwin is a somewhat similar prospect, possibly slightly ahead of Dieng at this stage. It will be interesting to see if either of them makes it as an NBA player?

Do the Nets have two 1st round draft picks? This mock has us picking #3 and #13 (presumably the Nets pick), but also has the Nets picking #24
