20/4/4 with similar efficiency post all star break for the whole season, also depends how much they focus on his body in the off-season.
Gonna need new coaches then... Silas and Lucas are much too guard-oriented in their offensive approach... They'll have Chet be a black hole on offense.. He'd essentially be a 3 and D frontcourt player on this dumb ass team... His offensive skills are unique but he will need a better coach to unlock it..
I'd like to see him show that he's elite at any one skill. I'm less interested in raw stats since he has all the attempts he'll ever want. It would be good to see him become one of the best mid range shooters, or 3 point shooters, or slashers, or have a high free throw rate, or be a great playmaker. Whatever it is...have something that he's near unstoppable at. Something he can execute at the end of games.
A lot depends on role. If the Rockets move on from KPJ and let Green run the show or just focus on getting him more shots he could reach 25 ppg. I’d say 20/4/4 is solid for year two. He should put on some muscle and work on his post up and floater.
I don't want to put too high of expectations on him, because he is still pretty raw and the is someone that takes his time (and I don't mean that as an insult). My guess is that he may start off next season a little slow, just getting used to playing again.... but by the end of the season I think he will be over 20 points a game, with better advanced statistics than Anthony Edwards has. Really I am not so concerned about how many points a game he scores, as how he defends and does the smaller things. I do think there is a chance he gets 23-25 points a night, and if he does that, then he will likely be a genuine top 10 player and franchise type player.... but how good he really will be will depend on how he rebounds, passes, defends etc. That is the difference between awesome and all time great. I will want to see how he physically and mentally holds up over a full season. This year he had a couple periods where he struggled and I think some of that is that he isn't used to playing so many games. I know that he is only 20 years old, but unless he was a serious playoff contender I hope they only play him 70 or so games... that stuff matters down the road.
He already is close to elite at getting to the rim and finishing.... almost 30% of his shots are at the rim and he is shooting 67%. He also shoots very well from 16 feet out. His struggle is 3 feet out to 16 feet where he is awful, but with his body that isn't surprising and the Rockets also need to improve their offensive strategy as well.... he shouldn't be taking a lot of those shots.
Defenses are going to re-adjust, he's going to see more physicality, more doubles. I expect more FTs, more assists, more turnovers, and similar shooting percentages to his current year averages.
Super excited to see how he's going to continue his growth. I think he'll get stronger without sacrificing speed, I think he'll get more foul calls, I think his character will mature more, I hope his defense improves but I don't think that'll happen next year (hope I'm wrong), I don't think he'll break out as the next big star just yet (like Luka did in his second year, which is crazy) but position himself for a major breakout in 3rd or 4th year. If we bring Wood back, he may get less touches than recent so many games so his points might not increase much from this year (17ish?)
We know he can score. The last 4 games, he averaged 30+ points, and he can do it efficiently. Last night's game, he scored 31 points on 18 shots. I'd like to see him do that more consistently and against stiffer competition. I'd also like to see him improve his playmaking skills and work on his defense. I expect he will work hard during the offseason to improve on areas he needs work. After last night's game, I'm excited to see what this young core can achieve together.
While I think he needs to work on defense as well, I think on the offensive side scoring a lot and scoring efficiently will be the easiest way for him to help the team going forward. The more he scores efficiently, the easier the passing should become. I think he'll be okay rebounding for a SG, but it isn't a concern for me. I would really like to see how Green would play with Jabari and a PG not named KPJ or Schroder.
Yeah, with other teams learning more of his game and adjusting their strategy of defending him, I think he’ll face more challenges next year. If he could average 20+ a game as a sophomore, I’d be more than happy.
Really depends on the team next year. If we still have Wood and KPJ, I see Jalen at 21/4/3. He won't get more assists if he's not featured on the offensive end with KPJ as the PG and he won't score more with Black Hole Wood playing. 21/4/3 58% TS is my guess/expectations.
It's possible if he is the number 1 option. TBH, it really depends on if we keep Wood or not next year. No Wood? Jalen would have the greenlight like these past few games. Silas also said Jalen would normally only get around 17 shots with the "real" team playing lol. He said don't expect Jalen taking 20+ shots a game in the near future
His points per game are solely going to be dependent upon his role in the offense and thus how many shots per game he takes. He has proven to be able to maintain his efficiency even with a larger workload and that is what you want to see in an elite scorer. So that is going to be on Silas in my opinion. Is he going to get 16 shots, 18 shots, or 20 shots? This is what I would expect personally. 16 FGA = 21 points 18 FGA = 23-24 points 20 FGA = 26-27 points I'd like to see him get more active on the boards and facilitate a little more. I think working on his strength and handle this summer will allow him to show improvement in the rebounds and assists part of his game, but he will need another year I think before we REALLY see what kind of damage he can do as a playmaker. So when he starts his 3rd season, he'll still only be 21 and that is when I think we will know how great he can truly be. All hyperbole aside.
Green is going to work his butt off this offseason and come back stronger. He'll also keep refining his shot so he can maintain good shooting percentage throughout the whole season He'll also have to react to defenses focusing in him more. He'll likely get more turnovers during these double teams. But, Green will take it serious and spend time in the video room to work on overcoming this. Full season I'm thinking 21-25 ppg, 4-5 assists, 4-5 rebounds. Green is a star in the making and it'll be fun watching him grow and recruit other star players to come here down the line
Silas is already mentally capping Jalen’s shot attempts for next year based on his comments after the game last night. Basically said 20 shots was too many and 18 is what he envisions.
