I've been a fan of JC since summer league. Prior to that I thought Stone picked this kid because he was BFFs with Green but when I watched those Summer League games I saw how good he could become. Honestly, he reminds me of a young Dwayne Wade in that he is very good at finishing near the basket, good passing ability and his defense is above average (of course this was were Wade was truly elite early on). Some numbers:

JC ranks 2nd among all rookie guards this season with a 63.8% FG% around the basket (criteria FGA/g near basket >2)
JC ranks 3rd among all rookie guards this season with a 48.2% FG% between 5-9 feet (criteria FGA/g 5-9ft >.8)

JC ranks 5th among all rookie guards this season with 2.0 deflections per game (criteria games played >20)
JC ranks 6th among all rookie guards this season with .9 steals per game (criteria games played >40)
JC ranks 3rd among all rookie guards this season with a 28.2% Steal % (percentage of team's steals) (criteria games played >40)

He's doing this while just playing about 17 minutes a night.

As I understand it, they were on the same team in 7th grade and didn't start or play very much. They came off the bench and that is where their bond as friends was cemented. They called themselves Bench Bros. Somebody feel free to correct me if I flubbed some of the minute details, but they gave themselves that name a long long time ago when they apparently weren't very good at basketball, but look at them now. It's an inspirational sports story.

KPJ, JG & JC lineup could work. One more ball handler to help KPJ. Draft a big to play with Sengun and let them grow together.

I think their paths crossed more than once or twice before the Rockets.

Not bad at all for a #24 pick! Aside from basketball plays, he's just a very likeable guy. Goofy but you can tell he's a good dude - hopefully he turns into a character/glue guy type of player that players just want to play with in general

On the year with 136 minutes together, KPJ/JG/JC has an offensive rating of 109.3 and a defensive rating of 110.9

However, if we look at just the past 15 games, that trio logged 88 minutes together for an offensive rating of 117.9 and a defensive rating of 112.1

They absolutely have. I'm referring to where the "Bench Bros" name came from. They gave that to themselves when they were kids riding the bench.

Ok you made me search it up.

Lol thanks, Wikipedia only has his career from his Mayfair days onward.

It merely says his brother Caleb Christopher did take him under his wing during elementary school and much of middle school.

    Love Jaygup's instincts and aggression.

He does everything without hesitation and at 100 MPH.

Seems like he should be playing at least 25 minutes. These are really good numbers.

They played on an AAU team together. Jalen and Josh are basically best friends, they’ve been on magazines together for slam etc. KPJ & Jalen have stated they are close too.

The kid had a nice little stretch during the game. I like his style. Like his buddy, he needs to improve a number of skills and strive for consistency both within the game and game-to-game.
