Lol, so all the people that was for this bill should be 100% okay with teachers removing gender and using gender neutral terms if this truly wasn't about being Anti-LGBT.
Yeah. So God sends down Gabriel ( Couldn't do it himself) to tell Mary , child bride, that God was going to knock her up with the Savior of the world. So God, without giving her a choice, decides to knock her up. Jesus, the child of cosmic rape, performs some miracles, throws some **** around a Temple, decides to have his ass kicked and crucified. Now his Daddy could have chosen any other way to save mankind , considering he created everyone in this fairy tale, but he chose not to. Oh well, he is the Lord Almighty, his world, his rules. And children are taught to belive this sh*t? Santa Claus is more believable. Talk about indoctrination.
Indoctrinating kids is evil, regardless of the cause. I see so many parents putting jerseys of over paid entitled athletes from their favorite medicore teams on their children. Did I do that right?
I do not but have helped take care of children both from relatives and close friends. Getting back to the original point. If you feel that video encapsulates a message that you find important shouldn't that message mean more than just that there is some uncomfortable language in it? This goes to the heart of this debate that the desire to protect children could lead to more damage by denying that things like same sex relationships exist. As have been noted repeatedly there are likely many children in FL schools already who are from families with same sex relationships.
To follow up on my previous post. Yes I don't have children and at this point in my life it is highly unlikely I ever will. To head off what I think is your argument that I shouldn't be telling you how to raise your kids and yes I'm not in a position to tell you how to raise your kids. In the case of this law though the very language of it is allowing the state to determine the standards of how kids are raised. We live in a diverse society and as public schools should be preparing children for that diverse society. If you don't like that there is always the option of homeschooling or private schools that teach morals that you agree with rather than forcing your morals onto the rest of society.
They are learning the basic academics in school. Children are much smarter than adults give them credit for. What they need most is love and support, not adult fears and restrictions for something so uncommon it might as well don't exists. All of this nonsense by the FL governor is amplified cultural issues in school for political gain. As a parent, I have zero concern, but I do have a concern with the gov punishing schools, teachers, and restricting materials based on their morals. Yesterday, it was sex education - that was a no-no. Today it's you can't say "gay"? As if parents need school to be parenting.
I used to be anti home school/private school, but at this point, the education public schools are offering is embarrassing. This has little to do with gays and whatever trivial nonsense you guys are arguing over and more to do with kids are not graduating with the necessary knowledge. Personally I believe we should stop grieving teachers and start placing the responsibility on parents. Subjective matters such as these should be taught in the home, not schools. It really doesnt matter. Parents who spend quality time with their children and take the time to work with their kids generally will raise kids who are more successful. The parents who leave the state to babysit their kids will forever complain and blame everyone else for their childrens short comings.
The quality of public school is a completely different topic and a valid one. This law has nothing to do with that. It has everything to do with making a cultural issue big and scary for political gain. And exactly, it didn't matter. I don't even want to argue about this nonsense. I do, however, care about the overall trend toward these new "moral laws" that are being pushed into school causing unintended consequences. Go do something useful and fix education, not push your morality into school. That belongs at home.
There are good public schools here, but our children will go to private schools. Also - that's exactly the point - this law is NOT about "forcing your morals onto the rest of society" - it's about preventing woko haram followers from doing exactly that to our young kids. They will certainly try later, but at least leave the really young kids alone.
So normative PSAs save the day. "Be better parents". Problem solved. Case closed. The state should stepmom to mitigate the damage of bad parenting as much as possible... That's if you want a sustainable society. For example teaching basic empathy about LGBTQ folks to kids could be deemed necessary from the state knowing that many parents will use their bigotry they were raised in and spread that to their kids without state intervention through education that teaches basic empathy skills. Many parents are bad at teaching those skills so leaving it up to the good graces of parents is not sustainable for a healthy society.
So... talking about gays is now FORCING morals upon children? And remember, the law says that parents who think that a lesson is crossing the line and inappropriate for their child's age level has the ability to sue regardless of age.
So does that mean that in kindergarten class where a teacher teaches the concept of sharing, that would be a form of indoctrination and as a free society that is unacceptable because that restricts the parent's right to make their kids into assholes when they grow up? Is that how it works @AroundTheWorld ?
There’s still people that think sexuality is a choice. They’ve obviously never worked around young children.
Those people probably should examine themselves and consider if they might be bisexual then and understand that many good people are trying to teach children to be empathetic to people like them.
