I apologize….no way those stats I projected are accurate. Way too high….just looked up Bol Bol’s stats, who is a comparable player by almost every metric and here they are: 2.4 Points 1.4 REB 13.74 PER
I think all three of these guys have a good shot of going number 1, it may come down to team preference, god I hope we are in the top 3. I agree with what someone else said, I think Jabari has the highest floor, he will be a starter on any team in the nba period. Chet and Paolo have a bit more variance, and I like them better as prospects. I don’t see Ivey as being in their tier but who knows a lot of other people do.
On the height and injury correlation I'd dialed that back a bit. 1) Chet hasn't had any major injuries in high school or college. 2) Jabari is 6'10" and Chet is 7'0". Two extra inches and magically one person becomes more injury prone than the other? it's ok to like other prospects, but the con on the injury is not a strong case. 3) looking at this season where 6'6 Green, 6'8" 6'6" Cade and 7'0" ft Mobley all missed more less same number of games this year. Green - 14 games (link) Cade - 15 games (link) Evan - 10 games (link) Take our own team for example, who missed the most games. Garbua has the highest number (32), but he's 6'8", which isn't considered super TALL. https://www.spotrac.com/nba/injured-reserve/houston-rockets/ The next three people are all guards: KPJ (20), Gordon (19) and Green (14). Gordon is a bit sus since some of that is load management and yielding minutes to other people. My point is not saying guards are more injury prone, but just picking on someone Tall and saying they are something, is unfairly painting a broad brush. --- As far as prospects, and mentioned by a few scouts, if any of Jalen/Cade/Evan/Scottie was in this year's draft, they'd probably be taken number one. I'd be fine with either Chet and Jabari. Both dudes fit. If we draft Chet, he's likely a 4 in his rookie year, until that body fills out. Sengun remain at 5. If we get Jabari, he can be a 3 or 4. If Tate, KJ or Garuba don't drastically improve, after we get one of Chet/Jabari, that other spot still needs to get filled. ---
Phew. The hard part was going to be losing to Sacramento twice and the Rockets did it. Now don't get cute and finish the season by losing these last four remaining games.
With OKC and Detroit 2 games back, it might be a good idea to try to beat Brooklyn to knock down their pick.
I am no expert, but isn’t the combination of really long legs with rather few muscles on it the thing, that makes a player injury prone. And we are only talking about probabilities here -perfectly build players can be extremely injury prone and the other way around. But from purely looking at them Chet looks a lot more injury prone - which doesn’t mean he is!
Nets are going to the playoff regardless. #15 or #18 pick doesn't matter as much as the best possibility for the #1 or #2
The way I see it Durant is bitcoin (Started out as too skinny and proved to be a gold mine). Now people feel Chet could be the next bitcoin, unfortunately that almost never happens and could end up fading away after a few years or maybe salvage a 10 year career with Rik Smits like numbers if healthy. KD even led the NCAA in scoring as a freshman at almost 26 ppg so his scoring ability was known from the start. I've been back and forth on this and liking Jabari Smith again for our pick. Remember, even if somehow Chet becomes a portion of that kind of player, KD still couldn't win a title being the man as he joined a stacked team to do it, after leaving a stacked team that failed, and then tried to form another stacked team that's going nowhere. So having a player of his caliber is not the only option.
What is the cut off point i guess. Is he in injury prone because he is skinny and tall. Like Mobley was, who probably will be RotY. Same thing people said last year: too skinny, butt too high, and injury prone. Is there a line where if someone is 6'9" or under then that's considered OK. Sub 200 lbs? On the Cavs team, it ended up being the more muscular Jarrett Allen who was injured. Within reason (not extremes), really isn't clear to me the barometer of physical body measurements to injury. The lumbering 7 footers of the 90's those guys packed lot of weight, pressure on their knees. Between a Zion and a Chet, Zion is the more injury prone. Chet should gain more muscle, that's a given. For teenagers, that's easy to do. I also don't comp him to KD as far as career trajectory, but if folks talking about body type, KD before hitting his 30's was pretty durable in OKC.
Yet it didn't hurt us too much. Really as it stands it just gave us a 10% chance of getting the 6th seed assuming we and Orlando lose out.
Chet or Ivey. Can’t teach defensive instincts in which Chet has in spades. The team can be a playoff team next year if you can make Wood and Chet coexist together and keep Wood engaged defensively.
I like Sharpe. Good size. Very athletic and has a good shot. I disagree on Chet. He’s going to defend at the next level with an ability to hit perimeter shots. I’m intrigued.
I don't think anyone is seriously considering Chet as the next KD. Durant is a one-of-one prospect who we may never see the likes of again. Chet isn't even the first guy to be called the "next KD", Brandon Ingram comes to mind, and he's a fine player. Before him was Michael Beasley (LOL). You don't select Chet to become the next KD, you select him if you think he's the second coming of AK-47 but even bigger, longer, and with better defensive instincts.
I just don't want the Rockets to be the Chet team. I personally don't find him enjoyable to watch, he's going to be referee dependant and I don't want it in their hands, don't think he's the right fit for Jalen or Sengun, I've come to terms with the passing on him and him being good for another team scenario and I'm okay with it. Go back and forth who I'd take at 3 between Chet and Shaedon Sharpe. Jabari and Banchero tier 1. KPJ/Jalen/Jabari/KJ/Sengun with a good young bench and 2023 cap space coming up would be a good position to be in. Win if you can.
i feel like i'm seeing a lot of similiar things said about Luka that are being said about Paolo. "he's not athletic enough" "he isn't amazing one single thing" "his game is boring" give me a guy that's good at basketball and i think banchero is pretty dang good at basketball.
