We started two shows (long story)... both recommendations from my younger daughter: Severance - Apple TV. So far, interesting but odd. Stars Adam Scott, Patricia Arquette, and Britt Lower. Won't go into any details. The Morning Show - Apple TV. Very entertaining, starring Jennifer Aniston, Steve Carell, Reese Witherspoon, Billy Crudup and a very strong supporting cast. While Aniston and Witherspoon occasionally take turns overacting they deliver strong performances and the show moves along pretty briskly.
Winning Time (story of the Showtime Lakers) just premiered on HBO. John C Reilly as Jerry Buss is enough to make you watch. I'm 30 mins in and it's brilliant so far.
Morning Show was way better than I thought it would be when she made me start watching it. It's a great show. Mark Duplass just kills it.
Just finished Orphan Black. That was a fun show. Very estrogen heavy...but Tatiana Maslany is a great actress. Incredible how many characters she played and each felt like a totally different person. I really like how they tied up the loose ends on the last episode. Was quick, clean and left no discussion for alternative explanations. Strongly suggest watching this. About 40 total hours worth of tv time (5 10 episode seasons).
Agreed I loved that show Its so funny how she played all those roles. . .. . and I was still line. . .. PReppy Chick was better looking that other chick but they were all the same chick Rocket River
Just finished Turning Red. Watched it with my 11 year old daughter. Great movie. Perfect if you have a tween daughter. Pixar just knows how to do things right.
I finished season 1 of Reacher last night and overall pretty good but I didn't like how the season ended. It felt rushed and forced. Almost like how GOT ended. That said will watch season 2. I have to admit I haven't read much fiction lately and am way behind on my reading but might look into the Reacher novels.
I just finished Reacher also and I'd agree with you. The final shootout between the good guys and bad guys was so poorly written. The bad guys are supposed to be Venezuelan ex-military cartels yet they turned into storm troopers against Reacher and friends. How did KJ get the drop on Joe Reacher? Too many things were left poorly explained. It was an okay watch. Nothing exemplary.
So I realized TopBoy has another season on Netflix. Great show, but I thought it lagged toward the end of the last season. Some people refer to it as The British Wire, the writing is not as good but some great acting. There are 4 previous seasons I think you need to watch them from the beginning. TopBoy Summerhouse is the original. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1830379/
Vikings Valhalla: Really liking it. “100 years later” sequel to history channel Vikings but doesn’t have reach the same level. B- 30 Coins: Always like a good international series. Pretty good, was pleasantly surprised. B-
This is airing on A&E some crazy and disturbing stuff went on. I was surprised, I was surprised at some of the stuff that went on in and around playboy.
Apollo 10 1/2 just came out on Netflix and got really great reviews at SXSW, should have watched it last night instead of The Bubble (bad, very bad), I'll catch it Sunday. A coming of age story....the way only Richard Linklater could tell it. Inspired by Linklater's own life, Apollo 10 1/2: A Space Age Childhood takes you to the moon and back in this story about growing up in the 1960s in Houston, TX. @rocketsjudoka @B-Bob @Deckard
I caught the first two episodes of Diabolical on Amazon and not particularly impressed. Just seems like a lot of gore and violence without that much cleverness or humor.
That was my feeling on it, too. Episode 3 features some of the characters we know, but still, it's a very crude, uninteresting series. Even with episode 3 having some plot relevance, I didn't care to watch more. I might get around to it eventually.
For All Mankind definitely got better the 2nd half of S1. I'd never read much about the Sea Dragon concept rocket, and holy crap! that end credit scene was awesome. Also, whoever coordinated the soundtrack deserves an award of some kind.
Started Abbott Elementary and its been pretty good. Definitely took its style from The Office and Parks & Rec but still a good watch.
