Ok, great, who cares? The org doesn't.......

Whatever the org decides, is what is going to happen.

He's been suspended for one game, they obviously care, even if the suspension should have been longer.

He's starting to grow. He's still like 21 right? He's not done, I don't see any reason you give up on him now that he's starting to blossom.

Beyond that, he and Green are starting to play well together. Sengun is a great compliment to what they are putting together. You don't have a championship contender the next best thing is a team with upward potential left to gain. What's the problem?

That's not a good defensive rating at all.

    Need Holmgren.

    Or Smith.

I think a whole lot of this improvement is that we have less Chefs in the kitchen. RAF needs to dump EG/DS/Wood before Silas screws us over… We need a hierarchy that helps KPJ/JG/Sengun/Josh. IMPROVE.

Going forward, Tate and Garry are enough Vet support, IMO, and they should know their roles too.

That stat shows us just how bad Sengun is defensively at the 5 and aside from being a poor defender in general, he offers little to no rim protection.

By the numbers, he's borderline unplayable (defensively) as a center.

I really think Sengun has to move to the 4 spot to be successful long term.

Ok back to KPJ .... I'm over it, time to move on. He's just damaged ....

You are right they suspended him based upon all the data they had that we don't.....and they worked it out.

That is a great thing.....why hold onto angst over stuff you don't really know, or have an ounce of control over...

I don't think Sengun can play the 4, and I think he will be fine at the 5. His defense has been improving and the stats won't capture that given they average out a much longer period. He's young and has a lot to work on, but the progress on all aspects of his game is clear. He might not be the 5 of the future, but he certainly has a role on this team at the 5 if not a starter. Personally, I think he has it to be the starter at center. His pluses far outweigh the minuses.

KPJ - I think it's an open question about him. But here's the thing - his chemistry with Green is very strong, and you don't want to disrupt it. It seems to me that Green is having an effect on him and may ultimately help hold him in line. Given how hard it is to find a great point guard who can do it all, I think you stick with KPJ for the time being. His TO's have been down in a very impressive way. And he is still very young. The growth is there with his TO's and 3 point shooting.

Wood you can move. I know he gets a lot of criticism, some of it fair and some of it unfair. But the big issue for me is that he has one year left and wants a payday, and I can't see the Rockets giving him a big extension. So you have to move him this summer.

There's so much pressure that comes with playing in the NBA. To be honest I think three to four outbursts a year should be acceptable for players given the weight of losing combined with an adrenaline rush and the hyper competitive nature of these cats. It's bound to happen.

83 points, 30 assist, and only 6 turnovers the past 3 games

I’d give him one more year

I wonder how many picks we would have to attach to give him away at this point?

It’s also pretty amazing he has improved so much given what an incompetent coaching staff and front office we have.

I’m not a big fan of the small sample size stats, but if you look at the body of work this year compared to his 26 games last year, there has been improvement in important areas:

his 3 pt efficiency is much better.

He’s playing better defense. Opponents are shooting poorly against him and he’s increased his steals per game significantly.

    where I have concerns:

Turnovers not significantly improved. Maybe some of those near-term small sample stats are showing a positive trend, but the overall body of work says different on turnovers.

also his field goal percentage had a significant back-slide and it’s not due to him shooting more 3’s. And as an unfortunate corollary his free throw percentage is significantly down. I know people are always taking about the importance of making free throws but 61% for a guard is just plain bad.

Again maybe a near-term smaller sample size is showing increases passing prowess and assist-making but the body of work says it’s pretty similar to last year.

so I think he’s been a mixed bag. There is obvious talent and he’s improved his defense and long range shooting. But his over all shooting efficiency, poor free throw percentage, and turnovers remain a challenge. He’s capable of double digit assists but I don’t see him setting up teammates and play making. It’s the difference between stats on paper and having the vision on the court that makes your teammates better. He doesn’t have that; maybe he’ll get there

I was hating. Still not 100%, but the meter is definitely headed in the opposite direction. Positives outweigh the Negative. Ending the season on a really good note. He has probably reigned in any thoughts the FO were having about drafting Ivey. He is definitely here for another year at least.

It’s all mental with him. That and being played somewhat out of position. If he wasn’t such a head case, and if he was not being relied upon to run the point, I think everyone would be a lot higher on the guy. He could be an all-star one day, or he could just as easily get run out of the league. I still have one idea what they should ultimately do with him, and that’s a problem. We should probably have a better idea of what he really is at this point. Having said that, he’s been damn fun to watch recently!
