I was listening to Jeselnik's podcast this morning, and he said Chris Rock always has security around him...except at the Oscars.
Did you hear about Bruce Willis' reaction when he heard the Chris Rock joke about making a sequel to his ex-wife Demi Moore's movie, GI Jane? Spoiler he was speechless...

I don't care about who's right, who's wrong, or what should be done next. I've been dragged into this via IM, so I'm just passing it on if it hasn't already been posted :
Says Chris Rock was adamant about keeping Will at the Academy Awards, he told security to let Will stay. https://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-60952217
Kudos to Rock for not wanting to Smith removed....but that decision shouldn't have been left for him to make. Dude got assaulted, full stop. If it was Tiffany Haddish that made the joke and Will slapped her, would Packer and the Academy team let Smith stay even if Haddish told them "No, I don't want to make the situation go from bad to worse?". The people running the show--Packer, whoever makes up the Academy leadership board, security, etc--should have removed Smith on the spot because it's their responsibility to make that call; not Chris'. Of course this is also thinking that Hollywood actually knows how to handle any serious situation that gets thrown their way and we all know that can go.
If it weren't for the unfortunate events that went down, people would probably talk more about her response during the Post-Oscars party when a reporter asked if she went through a costume change: I don't think the reporter was being disrespectful because I've heard that "costume change" remark/question many teams before and it was never meant with any malice but....I guess that night wasn't the night.
