Ok, but if Green doesn't start showing us something soon, I'm trading him and a 1st Rd Pick for Luguentz Dort!! -- [says the anti-Green establishment]
Even advanced analytics have too much noise from confounding factors. You think his RAPTOr and VORP would be the same if he was on the Warriors assuming he still gets significant minutes? There is a reason people laughed at people like you who brought up ****ing VORP and RAPTOR for a 19 year old rookie on a team that is run by a 21 year old pg who never played pg. Like come on dude. Those type of advanced analytics are essentially pointless for rookie guards on **** teams.
KPJ scored 50 when he was 20, it was pretty empty at that time. Liked his first Triple Dubs at 21 better.
I don't know. But Tilman will be broke paying Maloney long after we no longer have the Nets picks to talk about.
How in the world did he lose the dunk contest!? Those were highlight reel dunks in actual games. I still want to give him a hair cut!
Even as a full crusader for WS/48, everyone needs to realize that 19 year old rookie guards have dogshit advanced stats, that's normal. Zach LaVine ended his rookie year with negative WS/48, for instance, and so will Cade Cunningham.
Now collecting garbage low ball IQ posts. Always good to be informe Duncan or KG? Bam Adebayo level at best.... Maybe Pascal Siakam lol
Yeah JA has been the Cavs MVP and best player this season.... Having him as the anchor at the 5 has made life much easier for Mobley who doesn't have to guard centers primarily and can play to his strengths defensively... He also gets more defensive focus which frees up Mobley... That in combination with great playmaking has Mobley in the best situation of all rookies in that his strengths have mostly been highlighted this season and his weaknesses have mostly been masked, but they're apparent if you pay attention.... I've watched a ton of Mobley and the comparisons being thrown around as well as the projections are laughable... He's a damn good defender particularly when it comes to switching on the perimeter and staying in front of guards... He also doesn't jump on fakes often which is very nice for a rookie.... His offensive game tho shows a player I highly doubt can ever be the best player or a successful number one option on a contender. His post game is shaky at best... He sometimes has success against shorter matchups, but in general he often struggles and doesn't have much of a bag. He isn't a good shooter... He has games where he makes some shots here and there... He's got a decent short jay in the lane close to the FT line that he can hit, but he's mostly missing open or uncontested jumpers.... And I've watched him often and his shot release is very inconsistent depending on where he shoots from.... Most of his buckets are fed to him in transition when he runs the floor for a nice feed or on drop offs into the paint at the rim from Rubio earlier pre trade and Garland since.... He puts up and misses a lot of push shots badly in the lane and awkward poorly timed floaters... He's a solid passer tho and if he can effectively put on weight I could see him as a Bam Adebayo level player at his best.... And that's been my position since before he was drafted and I see nothing to make me change it.
Jalen Suggs of all people is really ****ing this up for everyone.. had he gotten his rocks off like everybody else people would be talking about the top 10 picks being all hits and it being the greatest rookie class ever.
Yeah I said Suggs was Dennis Johnson. Kinda average but those around them make them look better than they are. Meh. I posted that I would let some other team take Suggs and wait on Davion Mitchell. I've liked Mitchell with the Kings.
I don't know about Stockton but Timme helps make Suggs and Chet look more consistent. Timme is very underrated but very crafty near the rim and a solid college player. Unfortunately like college player of the year Luka Garza....that doesn't always translate to today's NBA. Chet does have a body of work in international team USA play that I do like. Patrick Baldwin is also a very good player as one can see through his body of work in international team USA play. Unfortunately for Baldwin he went with his dad (coach) at Milwaukee. It's hard to soar like an eagle when you are surrounded by turkeys adige.
He was not on the Warriors. He was a Rocket and he played horribly. Anyone with an eyes could tell he played horribly until he got hurt and then at the end of January. At no time have I ever said Green was a bust. I only brought up stats after it was brought up that I didn't have stats. While I agree there is a lot of noise in advanced stats, that doesn't change that he played horribly with a lot of minutes for good chunks of the season in the situation he was in. This isn't to say there weren't worse players at that time, but those players weren't getting the same amount of minutes. While I don't think RAPTOR (WAR) or VORP are any where close to his current talent, I think it is mostly due to him being a negative impact for longer than he's been great impact (i.e., they are averaging the data together). If your eye test doesn't think he was playing a lot of minutes poorly for longer than he's been great, I really don't know what to say. I can't say for VORP, but RAPTOR WAR, even if it has problems with other players, has been tracking well with how I see Green has been performing in the actual games he's played. His RAPTOR WAR accumulated for the last 25 or so games has been great.
Duncan is probably the most savvy basketball player of all time and KG the most tenacious. Mobley is neither of those things. He's going to be really good. I think a better Adebayo is about right which is amazing for a 3rd overall pick. I just think Green and Cade were generational talents that came out at the same time.
even the great classes have a Darko, a Mel Turpin or Wally Sczerbiak or whatever in there messing everything up.
