James harden gets undeserved hate because he has scored and torched every team in the league

Harden gets hate because he sucks when it counts not that he is a bad player. Once he realizes scoring the most points doesn't automatically equal championships. He will surpass a level that he has been purgitory in for 5 years possibly longer.

 

I see what you are trying to do but both players situations are mutually exclusive. Does white America like Curry because he may resemble them more than Harden? That a possibility, no denying that. There are a lot of things about Harden his die hard fans refuse to acknowledge though. Harden is not the best teammate. When has Harden showed up to big moments? Hitting a game winning 3 on GS in the regular season?

I love Harden but to defend him as if he's the perfect NBA player is 100% delusional. Bringing in skin color makes you look even more desperate @HardenVolumeOne .

The league will do its best to promote whichever player it feels can appeal to a UNIVERSAL audience. Harden, in his prime, was one of the greatest offensive weapons in NBA history but, at the same time, deployed one of the most aesthetically unappealing game in NBA history. Both are true and existed at the same time. This doesn't even get into the fact that Harden's had his fair share of underwhelming games when "it matters most", aka the playoffs.

 

Except when they don't.

The problem is when counter-examples are given, you point to other reasons for why people hate Harden. So nothing you're saying indicates that skin color has anything to do with how people react to Harden.

If there was a player who played the same way and had the same history but was lighter-skinned, and there's a discernable difference in how they are perceived, you could maybe tease out skin color as a factor here. Otherwise, this is going nowhere.

 

I've been a big Harden supporter in the past and always thought that his playoff flameout reputation was overblown, outside of two really bad games (game 5 GS in 2015 and game 6 SA 2017). He's had many more great playoff performances as a Rocket than bad ones IMO. Last year, I thought he was BK's best player in the playoffs before he hurt his hammy.

That being said, he's been a chump this season. Out of shape, obviously declined athletically, really reminds me of CP3's 2019 season. His stats are still good and he's still a top 20ish player but that's just because he was starting from a top 5-7 player in the league baseline. I don't see the 76ers having a shot in the playoffs with this type of play, despite his good game last night.
