Told to keep an eye on Samuell Williamson an Kenneth Lofton as targets in the transfer portal.

Not sure how Lofton would come over as he has already declared for the draft, but I am just passing it along.

There are also some USC kids that are being looked into.

It's a comment from two weeks ago when they were discussing Edwards defense and the qualities of the good defensive teams that they've had.

"Every good defensive team we've had here has had a great ball defender", Sampson said. "That's why the 33-4 team was so good; we had two. You're lucky if you have one. You play with house money if you have two".

This is from two weeks ago and he is talking about ALL of the teams that he's had here. He singles out the sweet 16 team out for being unique in that they had two great ball defenders. That's very specific, no spinning needed.

As I said before, I'll take Sampson's word on it.

that in no way takes away from Shead. whatever word you're taking from Sampson it's your reach not his

if you're gonna take sampson's word for it with this silly reach, I can personally tell you Sampson loves Shead as a defender. Why? because I've literally heard it in my ear from the staff

It was a tough end to the tourney. I haven't talked to the ones I know from Sampson's staff since the conference tourney. I want to let them breath and allow them to digest how this past year has gone. They'll get back into the swing of things before long

Feels like Sampson needs some size, Josh Carlton type size. Roberts , Francis and Chaney are all 6’7” - 6’8”.

Yes, that seems like a small frontcourt.....too much like the Rockets.

I mean UH got to the final 4 with a smaller frontcourt than this year

is it nice to have a legit big, sure but it can also come with weaknesses like how Carlton struggled guarding against nova’s actions. As Nova doesn't play with a true big

    J. Walker is like less than 2 inches shorter than Carlton but Jarice is stronger and plays much bigger. People don't realize Carlton didn't play the play he did here when he was at UConn prior. Sampson and Co had to take a lot of his softness out

Hope Edwards can live the dream, but him coming back would be ridiculous

Not a reach at all. Also not saying that Sampson doesn't like Shead as a defender. It's saying that he's not an elite defender (back to the original point). Sampson knows elite defenders are rare. That's not a knock on guys who give full effort but just aren't special on the ball guys. Coaches still love those guys.

sure was. no where does it mention anything close to Shead. You don't pick and choose what you think he's actually saying.

Is Walker seen as a potential one and done type prospect?

Yes. Of course everyone is aware that this is the likely scenario. that's the downside of getting guys like them. He's projected to be somewhere in the lottery but if Sampson's track record of developing guys continues with him like we have seen before, Walker could play himself into one of the top picks

He said that the sweet sixteen team was special because it had two good on ball defenders. That means this year's squad had at most one. In the same article, Sampson says that Edwards was the best defensive player in the conference. Based on that it's not hard to figure out that Shead isn't that one good on ball defender on this years team.
