He’s definitely showing what the scouts saw and what I was hoping he should be able to do being so highly touted. Took 2/3 of a year to happen who cares in the long run, all that matters is he has his **** together and is on track to continue improving and be very valuable. I love that he is able to exploit the midrange which the defense is giving him so early in his career and not failing in love with 3s and even step back threes.

No longer pining for Evan Mobley, I think it’s a matter of taste at this point not a clearly superior player vs another

The Dude looked lost for most of the season, but he has clearly found his groove. At one point I had given up hope that he was NBA material.Thought the Rockets had blown the pick. Things are looking up.

It was others who referred to Ant’s rookie post allstar numbers as what Green could achieve. I didn’t think it was going to happen, and for all intents and purposes I was wrong about that. But if someone is going to @ me right now to gloat about it then let’s get technical because I am still technically right which is he best kind of right.

Congratulations pal, admitting mistakes is something very rare in this forum. Good fans and good people are the ones who aren't afraid to admit they were wrong. Once again, congratulations.

There is no one who has made a greater quantity of debunked statements about Jalen Green than you. There is no doubt in anyone’s mind that if we ran a test, you would have the most such statements. You doubled down over and over again.

None of the posters who thought he was a flop have as many such statements as you.

That’s the wrongest kind of wrong. That’s not the “oops, but I was almost right” kind of wrong.

It happened a long time ago, but Jalen Green is a success.

From even before Jalen was drafted and the debate was between him and Mobley I said Jalen could be a Lavine/Booker/Beal type of player. Someone who can score a lot of points but by themselves wouldn’t be able to even get into the playoffs, while Mobley would be an impact player that changes the trajectory of an entire franchise. During much of the year Jalen looked even worse than that projection. I never called him a bust, or that he can’t improve, in fact I said he definitely will since he was so bad, I pointed out that by any objective measure he was one of if not the worst player in the entire league at this time, which was true, you can’t change facts. Then, as people like you brought up Anthony Edwards rookie second half, I said I would bet anything, even something insane, if Jalen can beat those numbers.

I have been “eating crow” because I am happy with Green’s improvement from the depths of earlier in the season, and would rather cheer him on. But if you want to be technical about it, I have been right on every point. The only one that’s dead wrong are clowns like you who said he was Kobe, a HOFer, which he still isn’t anything close.

Especially when Green is at 13.6 FGs, those 3 extra fgs Green doesn't get to shoot are 3-4 points for him. It's a big deal.
And the guy who he is guarding in the 4th! Speaking of, the spurs organization and their fans were extremely patient with the development of Murray. This fanbase can't even handle 2 months. But I guess it's easier when you have 5 ships since 1999.

Was watching some old Jordan highlights. It seems that Jalen copies a lot of Jordan moves, especially the sideway 2 pointers...even his jump/release sometimes looks the same

The problem when evaluating a rookie like Mobley is his flaws as a player are completely hidden because on defense, he plays with Jarrett Allen (All-star defensive juggernaut, and on offense, he has nearly 70% of his shots assisted, which is again facilitated by his team and Darius Garland (all-star offensive juggernaut).

If we look at the Cavaliers without Jarrett Allen this season (19 games), their defensive rating is at 113.6, putting them in the mid 20s in defensive ranking. If we isolate this and look at specifically the last 11 games (all of which Allen missed, with Mobley playing all of them but leaving the last game early due to injury), their rating is only 117.1, which would make them worse than even the Rockets. This is a pretty significant sample size.

On the other hand, if we turn it around and look at Cleveland's defensive rating without Evan Mobley (8) games, their defensive rating is 106.6, which is even better defense than what they have now.

On offense, despite Green's significantly slower start, Green's scoring efficiency for the season is 16 points at TS 54% (in line with league average for guards), but Mobley's scoring efficiency is barely better at 15 points at TS 55% (quite a bit below average for PF/Cs), and this is despite Mobley having more of his shots assisted. If we specifically look at numbers since February 1st, Green completely leap frogs Mobley scoring 19 points on TS 58.4% (26 games) whereas Mobley is still in-line with his season average scoring 15 points at TS 54.8% (24 games)

This might be homerism speaking, but if you put Sengun on the Cavaliers this season, he would very likely perform just as good or even better than Mobley because his defensive issues are completely hidden, but he is a superior offensive player than Mobley and will be playing next to a superior playmaker in Garland.

Of course, I'm not saying Mobley is bad, he's definitely a good player with a lot of defensive potential. However, the position he has been placed in could not possibly have been better for a player of his abilities, especially if you compare it with a score first player like Green who has to play behind a lot of shoot first players (Gordon, Wood, KPJ and even Tate) and without a proper PG.

Swap Cunningham and Mobley and that should be the standings at the end of the season. Personally I would also put Giddey on front of Wagner…
