What would you consider reasonable. Who would be his late inning defensive replacement?

I think $70M/4yrs guaranteed with another $20M in incentives would be a fair deal. I would not do anything less than 3 years, would not do any opt outs, and would not guarantee him more than $90M. Conforto is easily superior to the player Reddick was when Luhnow gave him $52M, although Conforto has the draft pick attached.

I think he will end up taking a one year deal to hope for a rebound and get out from under the QO, but that shouldn’t be with Houston. He makes the most sense as a way to deepen the lineup this season and as a replacement for Brantley moving forward.

Any of Siri, Meyers, or McCormick would be a fine late inning replacement in CF, with Meyers projecting as the best option.

I just don't think he's a better option than what we have at a fraction of the cost. Keep the powder dry and see what develops.

Anyone else thinking Dusty will keep Tucker in the 6th or 7th spot this season costing Tucker 50-100 plate appearances? I'm usually not too concerned with batting order. Only complaints from me on order are usually when significantly worse hitters are given a lot more plate appearances than one of the best hitters on the team. Maybe Tucker regresses, but I think odds are good he's one of the top 4 hitters on the team.

Front row tickets behind the Astros batting circle (I think) for Friday's game. I'll have my Colt 45s hat on

He will probably do it and some fans will somehow still defend it. Watch Siri bat leadoff on opening day.

    I'm guessing Pena.

It looks to me like the best center fielder in camp is Leon. Does Meyers make it back before Leon takes the job?

I just came up with today's line-up if you swap Gurriel with Siri. I want the Batting Champion to get as many PA as possible.

Oops! I also have Tucker and Alvarez swapped.

    1. R Gurrie - Batting Champ 2021

    2. R Altuve - Batting Champion 2014,2016,2017

    3. L Brantley - 311 BA 2021

    4. R Bregman - 9.0 WAR 2019

    5. L Tucker - 5.7 WAR 2021

    6. R Siri - 155 OPS+ 2021

    7. L Alvarez - 173 OPS+ 2019

    8. R Pena - Rookie

    9. R Maldonado - Defense

Leon has the advantage of having SS experience as well. They are really pushing the Utility this season.

Who is going to give up a pick for one year of Conforto though?

    Yes, I think Dusty will

No, he shouldn’t. Tucker is likely our best offensive player

If you want to correctly predict the Astros batting order, why in the world would you bat Yuli leadoff?

I wanted to see James with the MLB club but I guess no room with guys like Baez and Montero still hanging around. Wonder what they end up doing with Baez if his velo doesn't pick up.

What they should do is cut Baez and eat the 7.5 million they owe him but I have zero faith in Click doing that with his big free agent acquisition from the previous offseason...

I would also call the A's about Lou Trivino. Pressly's velocity being down is concerning. I don't care what excuses he gave about adrenaline.

Agree on James. And while I understand he hasn’t exactly lit the world on fire last two years, hanging on to Báez just because we are paying him decent money is ignorant.

    Cut him

Good question. Conforto’s market is hard to gauge. But if his price lowers to something like $14M/1yr plus incentives I would imagine a few OF-needy contenders would start to get pretty interested. White Sox, Twins, Guardians, Blue Jays, Angels, Padres, Giants, and Phillies all make some measure of sense even on a 1 year deal with draft pick attached if his price dips low enough.

Every year, some player gets a QO and turns it down when they shouldn't. This year it's Conforto.
