Yeah I don't see it, even with big improvements, the theory of him as a player is off. Switch ability for a center being his main skill. If he doesn't excel in another category like rim protection, rebounding, or offense than I just see the answer always being, play JaeSean Tate instead.
Last night dude was hanging in the tunnel(during game) and several players on the bench kept calling/waving him out to come sit on the bench. He wouldn't so Uncle Dave got up and went to get him. They walked back together, sat talked, and less than a minute later got up and went back to the tunnel LOL!. Didn't look happy during that entire incident. Read nothing or everything into that (leaning this way with his tweet after game) incident but nobody deserves anything especially if your attitude includes entitlement.
Exactly what I see. Opposing player already finishing at the rim and he's just leaving the floor to contest. Seems to be missing key skills like quick leaping and anticipation to be a great shot blocker. Might be a great switching big but i don't think he'll defend the rim at an elite level.
Lots of pessimism in here. Let’s see what he can do with extended minutes. Might surprise you. I mean we just want him to rebound, defend multiple positions, and operate out of the pick and roll. Knocking down threes would just be a bonus. Worst case scenario, we hit on 3 out of 4 of our picks. That’s not bad. Remember, he is very very young (maybe) He just turned 20. Only Sengun is younger on the whole team (supposedly)
THIS IS ABSOLUTE CRUMBS him, JC and sengun should of been getting huge minutes from the VERY start instead we wasted a season playing danuel house and danual thesis and other scrubs and got zero picks for them... PENNY PINCHING MOVES EVEN IF YOU DID GET SOME PICKS IN RETURN ITS NOT WORTH WASTING HUGE AMOUNT OF PLAYING TIME AND HOLDING BACK DEVELOPMENT OF YOUR YOUTH... smh smh with this high iq strategy rockets have higher chances of being moved to vegas than even coming close to winning a chip....
That steal in the backcourt by KPj that led to a breakaway dunk was all facilitated by Garuba perimter defense at the top of the key forcing his man away and KPJ capitalized off it. . I want to see Garuba get 20 minutes a night at least the rest of the season. He actually showed great footwork in the perimter defensively
"I don't know...he looks slow and out of shape. He's got a long way to go" Usman Garuba: 18 games played in the NBA, with a grand total of 129 minutes and 10% of that came from a game on March 28th.
How is it that Garuba can play like a star in the Olympics against an NBA Super Team but then looks like a scrub against NBA scrubs??? Weirdest $hit ever.
You do NOT usually look good in low minutes as a defensive stopper on a bad team with poor defensive principles ♂️ If Golden State has him in place of Wiseman you'd see a better player. Let him cook.
It's not uncommon to see international players struggle out the gate in the NBA. Ricky Rubio, Rudy Fernandez, Luis Scola, VSpan, etc are all great players in international play but their success didn't translate into the NBA. Once Garuba gets more meaningful minutes and playing time to get himself into NBA conditioning, then we can determine if he's a miss or not. I'll have to remind everyone here again that we were once skeptical about Clint Capela too. It took a few years but he gradually worked himself into NBA shape and his conditioning improved to the point where he was playing 30-33 minutes a night as a starter.
