Giddey And Shai are out the remainder of season. Sure they'll be headed up that list.

Posted in another thread. Are Wood, Gordon, and Schroeder shut down for season? Why did they sit last night?

All of them sat because of soreness. They're not out for the season just yet, atleast they didn't say it

Sounds like they may be shut down.

    https://www.houstonchronicle.com/te...de-this-is-the-time-to-shut-down-17034925.php

“Center Christian Wood was listed Monday afternoon as questionable with a tight left hamstring. Eric Gordon was listed as questionable with the right groin soreness the Rockets cited when he missed one game in back-to-backs all season. Guard Dennis Schröder, who had been entrusted to solidify the second unit, was questionable with a sore left shoulder.

All three were declared out before the game, as they likely will be for the balance of the season.”

The problem is whilst the worse tanking team only have a 14% chance at the 1st pick, they also at worse bottom out at 5th pick.

The probability of all-stars start to drop quite hard after the fifth pick. You have outliers like the 9th pick, but more or less you don't want to drop any lower than the 5th pick.

The way the lottery currently works is it incentivises teams to basically tank to be the absolute bottom if they are tanking (so all or nothing). This means that teams that are already near the bottom, will tank even harder. Those that likely won't make the worse team in the league, will tank for the sake of better lottery odds.

I'm not sure how the league can fix this, but they would need some objective way to stop teams from resting even their youngest core players. For a team like the Rockets, resting Wood/Gordon/Schroder is one thing, but resting Green/Sengun/KPJ would be too blatant, which is more or less what the Thunder is doing.

With the playin now allowing more teams to be in the hunt I’m not sure the league cares about the half a dozen teams blatantly tanking with 10 games to go honestly.

Looking at the Magic and Pistons schedule I’m not sure how they don’t both lose out while we have SAC twice ugh. KPJ needs some rest I think and Nix needs more minutes.

Maybe delve into point differential somehow when allotting picks for the bottom teams? I’m not sure what can be done

Thanks. Not sure it even helps the tank to shut Wood down. We need to sit Green and Porter against SAC to have a chance at losing those two games.

Agree, without Wood in the lineup the offense looked smoother and more fluid. Wood leading the fastbreak is about the worst thing that could happen on an offensive posession. I really feel like his soft D and his insistence on being the focal point on offense hurt us more than the spacing he provides helps us.
Other than the off game he had recently he seems to be more of a negative on the court which is why I'm not sure shutting him down helps us losing these games

I’d be fine with resting Green, Sengun and Tate for the next two games against the Kings.

Well Sengun does have a shin bruise or something so the possibility is there. I don’t think there is anyway they sit Green and Tate (although I really think they need to give Nwaba some minutes (hint, hint, nudge, nudge).

It is not an outlier at 33%.

That only means a significant number of good players were able to drop all the way down to 9th.

the league could end tanking immediately by simply relegating the worst club to the GLeague.

You win the GLeague you get the #1 pick in the draft and promoted to the NBA.

Relegation or relegation style would never fly in the US. NBA Governors "own" the League and none of them are going to vote for their billion $ franchises risk dropping from NBA.
