“Teaching moments” are trite, but this was a good example of what I’ve been trying to teach my son. “Violence is not the answer” but more importantly it’s not going to look cool and heroic like in movies. I remember defending a girlfriend’s honor in high school and hearing Peter Cetera’s Glory of Love in my head and in reality it was just two drunk oafs rolling around in the dirt, ruining everyone’s Friday night.

Weird, why would you say Smith embarrassed black men. Do you go up to any white man that does something rash and stupid and say that they embarrassed all white men?

We live in a society that's trying to be "inclusive" by being hyper-focusing on collectivism, so.... yes. Behavior like this is how you get in the Oscars in the first place.

Obviously everyone that has the same religion / skin color / sexual orientation / mental illnesses / hobbies / hair color as me should and would act exactly the same as I do. #individualismisbad #staywoke

Great anecdote, on point, could end thread, but for more Will Smith jokes.

I saw a little "wax on...wax off" technique in his slap. The Windmill Slap.

    Good dad.

Will Smith just won an Oscar for the best actor, legit the highest achievement in his field, and no one is talking about it and no one will remember it.

Instead, what everyone is talking about...

-What a big baby and/or simp he is
-How his marriage is probably a dumpster fire
-How well Chris Rock handled the situation
-How and why his wife is bald (apparently the thing they least wanted attention on)

This is a textbook example of how keeping your cool is really important and how letting your emotions get the better of you is virtually never a good thing.

    Hard disagree.

    1) Rock wasn't prepared for it (it was a suckerpunch)
    2) Rock was leaning into it (he thought Smith was going to tell him something)
    3) Smith is athletic/fit
    4) Smith put his whole ass into that (hip rotation, shoulders follow-through, etc)

You think Chris Rock has a big bruise on the side of his face right now? If he does, then he should press charges. That looked like a very hard slap. It's no excuse for Will to claim that all the jabs at his family wore him down to this breaking point. Chris Rock doesn't get the full brunt for all of that. Will lost it. And, he should pay. And, he should take it like a man the way Chris did. You did this! Now, own up to it!

Smith can take his wife cheating but can't take a joke

Wish Rock would've responded with a better a antidote

    Thought so at first

Will was laughing as he walked back

What's the point of staging that?

Yeah except that wasn't about protecting his woman... Will Smith laughed at the joke... this is about a dude not knowing what the **** to do anymore. He doesn't know what he is and isn't supposed to do. Would Will have done that 5 years ago? Nope.... but now he has his wife who is strong as **** airing out their personal life on television specials while the whole world calls him a cuck.... and he has his wife making macaroni and cheese sounds with their sons best friend.... and dude is writing songs about his wife.... and his kids are all kinds of ****** up..... dude doesn't know what to do or how to handle it.

So he smacked another man for making fun of his wife, after not knowing how to react. Rock and Smith could of handled it between the two of them, but it was on national television.

Whatever, Smith kind was mechanical in his slap and Rock either can take a slap or he was so surprised he didn't know how to handle it.

I already have a couple friends from O-Block that said they would take care of Smith if Rock is interested in that type of thing.

Nah..... violence is the right reaction sometimes, it just depends on the situation.

Do you think that Chris Rock will ever make another joke about Jada again?
