I think im gonna be sick if were not in the bottom 3 at the very least I was hoping for bottom 2 records Its gonna be bad if that happens and then we end up with the 5, 6 or 7th pick Its the only thing I've been looking forward to all year
Competent front offices like Portland, OKC, and Detroit clearly designate the direction to their coaches to finish the season. It’s obvious we haven’t dictated anything to Silas for him to never play Bruno or Garuba and limit minutes for the youngsters. That is all the proof we need to see. Clutch defined exactly what the process should be in his tweets…. The fact we are not playing young players is all the proof we need.
Which is funny considering how long OKC and Detroit have been rebuilding. Sometimes you just need some luck and timing.
I just posted this in last game thread, and realized I should post it here. I’m critical of Silas for who he’s playing and for how long. At this point of this season, if we lose every game we have left, or win every game left, heaven forbid, let it be with the youngsters we have, not with players like Wood or Schroder, who should be sitting on the damn bench watching every single minute.
Also when we traded for Schroeder he clearly stated he is coming here to win. LOLOLOL- the Front Office is good with this strategy and Silas plays him Gordon, Wood, insert name here…. WHY? Complicit incompetence…. Just wow I don’t care why Silas wants to win, I only assume it’s due to his coaching winning percentage. I could be wrong. Anyhow, the FRONT OFFICE IS WRONG if they are allowing it. Which they clearly are.
My bad. I responded twice without seeing this. 100 percent accurate. How are we all going to feel when we hit pick 6 and our only solice is that we won 4 out of 10 games down the stretch. Shortsighted incompetence.
But what excuse is there to pull them aside from tanking? OKC lost SGA and Giddy to injury. Blazers lost Simmons to injury. Detroit lost Grant to injury. Magic only lost Suggs and Issacs to injury. We already held out Wall for the entire year without injury. What if Wood and Schorder don't want to sit out to tank? What if Silas doesn't want to end with two consecutive seasons of the worst record? What if we get a Brian Flores (NFL) situation where people go public with throwing games? I don't think it's so easy to out tank other teams in our situation. We've only won 6 games in two months, with two of them being against the backup to the backups Blazers.
They have the backups to the backups playing in their games recently. Most of their best players are on the bench with issues. Apparently we're supposed to start the coaches instead of our regular players or bench players to counteract that.
Yes, they are competent at TANKING not DRAFTING per se… they are tanking great to end this year, that’s how they are competent.
John Wall agreed to it and the league isn’t particularly happy with it. What if Wood or Schroder went public that they were forced to sit without injury?
And they also have injuries to their best players that they can lean on. We have the exact same record as the Magic in the last ten games. Just bad timing and luck playing this iteration of the Blazers
The Rockets wouldn't have lost to Blazers regardless, because they're taking tanking to nearly unprecedented levels. However, the 7 game win streak is what put this season's tanking odds in jeopardy. 3 of those 7 games were against tanking rivals (OKC x2 and ORL x 1), and we played Armoni Brooks 23 minutes a game, Danuel House 18 minutes a game and DJ Augustin 15 minutes a game. Then we also had Theis and a few other 3rd tier players (Matthews) eating up all the minutes. The Rockets won 7 games off the backs of experienced veterans and role players, against struggling teams. It's nothing short of an organizational failure for that streak to have even been allowed to happen, especially when the Rockets weren't even able to trade these players for anything (Brooks and House was cut entirely, and Gordon is still with the team).
A FULL season of tanking and now it seems we were trying the whole time??? We are in worse shape than I thought moving forward. We should’ve played a starting 5 of John Wall / Theis / Wood / Gordon / Tate all year. What a SSHH SHOW
The 2 games against the blazers is one thing. Moving forward is another thing. We may have beaten the blazers regardless but we have to ensure the best possible odds for a top pick moving forward. Clutch laid it out in 8 tweets and I don’t understand how fans could possibly disagree with what he detailed.
Because maybe things don’t work exactly like that where you can force plays to sit (who may actually want to play). Also the young player have been playing better, we going to sit a healthy Green, Sengun, and KMJ too? Maybe the real world is different from a tweet strategy. I want the Rockets to be in the best possible position to get the number one pick but this isn’t happening in a vacuum. This is just poor timing.
