This thing is pretty nice. It actually cost $177, which I thought was reasonable and the installation was $59. After tax, it came out to right at 250. It's a belt drive and is very quiet. It has 2 remotes to put in the vehicles. It has a keypad just outside the door, if you lose the remote or the battery dies. It has a nice wall mount control on the inside to enable a security lock, light, and open/close the door. It has a sensor that can be used in the house, in case you don't remember if you closed the door. It has a safety sensor to automatically reverse the door, of something egts in the path. What else can I say. It's a nice door and will make parking my motorcycle easier. The remotes are not key chains, but I'll figure a way to mount it. Here is a picture and link, if anyone else is interested. It is very quiet. http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=248739-38782-248739&lpage=none
Chamberlain makes Liftmaster garage openers, too. They're considered among the best. I believe Chamberlain also makes the inner workings of Craftsman openers.
Hey guys, I just had the 177 chamberline opener installed by lowes, however, I notice that a loud whi whi....sound is on all the time, and it's coming from the opener itself, and I believe it had something to do with the electric. What is those sound? Am I the only one that got those loud sound? Thanks
So I have three Liftmaster garage door openers. I got some new remote controls for them. But I was looking for a way to remotely control the door via app as well. We might often be traveling, and I want to just let the delivery guys drop stuff in the garage. So I was doing some research and found this: https://www.myq.com/ Ordered three of these devices that supposedly transform your stupid garage door opener into a smart one (the "Smart Garage Control"). Also ordered a camera. Does anyone have this system? Does it work well?
I have MyQ. It's associated with a Craftsman opener. Works really well. One of the cool features is that you can set an alarm to ping the app when the door is open past a certain time. This is good for forgetting to close the door or someone opens it really late at night.
Thank you. Looks like a really smart concept. It basically turns a "dumb" garage opener into a smart one. I also already had a Lockly Vision lock installed at the door from the garage to the house and bought 6 Arlo Ultra cameras and an Arlo video doorbell for the front door. Trying to turn the whole house into a smart home.
I bought a MyQ for something like $15 a couple of years ago. I still haven't installed it. lol. I need to. The only reason I bought it was because during the cold, my garage door opener's range, for whatever reason, becomes less. The colder it gets, the worse it gets. If it's in the 20's or low 30's, chances are good the door won't open, and I'll have to run inside to open the garage. Since I really wasn't driving too many places the last couple of years and pretty much stayed home, I slacked off on installing it. It's had good reviews, I guess. Saved me from buying a new garage door opener, I suppose.
MyQ came with my garage motor. I don’t use all of the functionality but it’s been good to remotely open the garage when we’re out of town or away from the house. Occasionally it gets disconnected from the internet but typically reconnects within 15 minutes.
MyQ worked surprising better than I anticipated and very simple to setup. For those who are curious, its nothing more than a static garage door opener connected to wifi with a garage door status sensor.
Have a MyQ garage smart hub for the existing opener as well. Works well. Wish it was linkable to Alexa, but it's not. It is linkable to Google Home
