2022: Shows that are losing your interest? Out of curiousity . . . . what have you been watching that is just not gripping you anymore SnowPeircer The Blacklist They stand out . . .. use to be watching 1st or second day watching now .. . I get a week or so behind then contemplate if it is worth catching up on Rocket River
Most History Channel shows. I used to love a lot of them when they started, but then you realize they're just hooking you in with the same stupid show every episode. lol. Ever since I gave up standard cable and started the a la carte streaming packages, I've noticed a lot of crap I don't really need to watch. Maybe it was because of the pandemic, too, but I really don't care as much about what's on TV unless it's more educational. With the exception of the new Star Trek series... I also have no urge or need to watch stuff as soon as they come out. I just wait until I can get a discount on a subscription or something and go for it then. Most of the shows you guys talk about, I've never watched an episode of. Maybe I'd like them, but part of me doesn't want to find out. Things get weird when you get older. lol.
The Blacklist for certain, that show needs to be killed off. They have definitely streched it out way beyond its shelf life. I don't even care who Redington is anymore.
I see alot of shows people like I think about trying them . . . but not sure I want to make the investment Rocket River
I was all in on The Blacklist...until they killed off Keen. I was glad to finally see an end to that story but I have no interest in season 9. I watched the first episode and was out the minute they said Dembe was an agent.
Yea . . . that was such a WTF moment and the antagonism between him and Red was. .. . blah Rocket River
The History Channel is showing stuff that's educational? I gave up on the History Channel years ago when they started going Ancient Aliens and Pawn Stars. I still do watch some of their shows from 10 - 15 years ago that are free on YouTube. FYI if you like educational history shows the BBC Timeline series is excellent and a lot of it is free on YouTube. This episode is one of my favorites.
Given that nearly all shows are serialized now there are several shows that I've seen a few episodes of but missed some episodes and then couldn't follow it anymore so gave up watching because they just didn't hold my interest enough to go back and see what I missed. The Black List and Manifest were two of those. One show that I started watching and just gave up on was Wheel of Time. I didn't find the acting very good and the storyline just seemed like very standard fantasy with the show definitely meant for fans of the books and not very open for people who didn't know the books. I haven't read the books and the series didn't make me very interested in reading them.
To me it felt like a paint by numbers fantasy story: A long time ago in the land of Blah Blah a great evil threatened the land. A hero known as "Vaguely Profound Sounding Name" with the power of "Dragon / Ring / Sword / Heart / Something else cool" arose and drove the great evil out. There was peace for many eons. The order of something sort of Celtic or Latin sounding, knew that the great evil would return and kept the prophecy that another hero "Vaguely Profound Sounding Name" would arise with the power of "Dragon / Ring / Sword / Heart / Something else cool". Little did they know that hero would come from a humble village / hamlet / farm / valley with "quaint old English sounding name"..
I tried watching the first 3 or so episodes of Reacher and lost interest. Reacher's acting was horrible.
Pawn Stars was actually a good show if they stuck to the items they were selling and the history behind them. I actually learned a lot of one-off or interesting stuff. It used to originally be kind of like PBS' Antiques Roadshow, but then turned into a clown show. I used to love a show called American Restoration and watching how they restored antique items. Then they cancelled the show. It had started turning into a corny reality show, too, but nothing like what Pawn Stars became. Ancient Aliens... umm... yeah.
The Walking Dead. It's terrible what became of that show. I know I'll finish it someday, I just don't want to right now.
