I never said it was the reality.... in fact I said the opposite.... I am just saying that at the time that was the perception that a fair number of people had. ****... if anything LeBron some how figured out a way to EXCEED the expectations put on him as an 18 year old....
I'm not surprised. Leonard when he's healthy was amazingly good. I remember those Spurs playoff runs and that performance he had before the Warriors took him out...and then the Toronto run....he looked like Jordan with cornrows. The midrange, the fadeaways, the drives, the defense....he can't be a team's primary facilitator like a Harden or LeBron or Luka but he has literally everything else.
Oh I am wrong all the time... and yeah these are only expectations.... we don't know what is inside the heart of these guys, what injuries they may have or how they will fit on a team or how the league will adjust or the game changes. It is possible that Banchero is the best player in this draft.... or someone even taken in the second round. No one thought Jokic would become a Hall of Famer.
I don’t feel the need to Google false perceptions or narratives. U yourself said u didn’t buy into them, yet are using them as proof of something. Why am I gonna bother googling that then? u literally 1st said this… “I have said Lebron 1.0. Not anywhere near the same athletically a lesser playmaker but they both have that feel and all around game. They both were kind of tentative at that age” u said Bron was tentative like Banchero like it’s fact…now that statement was initially supposed to be something about Melo and Banchero narratives a lot of guys have been very hyped, we see it every year…Banchero does not have 75-80% of Lebron’s talent level
all I’m saying is that if I’m with somebody, and they say we’re headed to Arby’s, nah fam, I’m good, u can drop me off right here
I guess I just don’t put that much stock in what Bron’s perception was when it wasn’t the reality, especially when the guys leading the charge are people like Skip Bayless and SAS who influence a lot of casual fans
well he's his own guy, but shades of those players I can see in his game. Blake and randle averaged like 5+ apg at times in their career, I think that's a pretty complementary playmaking comp for Banchero.
seems like u were when 1 of my very next posts was this “I don’t see the lightning quick 1st step that Melo used to have, nor the level of skill, so is it a bigger Melo, or a bigger off-brand Canal Street knockoff Melo” it’s been pretty clear what version of Melo I’m calling Arby’s
Lebron James year 1: 49% TS, 44%eFG, 29% 3pt, 5 rebounds, 6 assists per game. 19 shots per game to reach 20ppg and year 1 his defense was not what it became. Its easy to allow body of work to invade the discussion. Lebron was also a lanky rook who grew into his current body - Paolo is already built like prime Lebron. I dont envision a similar early trajectory only because I see a more team orientated player in a rookie Paolo vs a rookie Lebron.
That’s it, I have an announcement to make… I’m officially on the Ivey bus. And IOF, if you will. I’m taking no questions at this time.
Gotcha. No mention of versions in the post I replied to. BTW I'd take Jabari over Paolo. My 2 pennies.
Welcome brethren. We have been waiting for you. Help me spread the Jaden Ivey propaganda and push the Jaden Ivey agenda!
What a taller pre-injury Larry Johnson as a comp for Banchero? Grandmama was dominant before the injuries, and Banchero is probably a better shooter.
