Ivey is probably the only player I’d take number 1 without questioning the decision. He’s basically a bigger Donovan Mitchell. The other 3 I’d second guess for various reasons.
"With the second pick in the 2022 NBA draft the Houston Rockets select.... Jaden Ivey, guard from Purdue." - Adam Silver "We have a trade - the Houston Rockets have traded the draft rights to Jaden Ivey to the Oklahoma Thunder for the 5th pick in the 2022 draft and Luguentz Dort." - Adam Silver "With the 5th pick in the 2022 NBA draft, the Houston Rockets select Shaedon Sharpe, guard Kentucky." - Adam Silver
I’m am all in on this. Ivey and Green would be an incredible 1-2 tandem, and, yes we don’t really need a pass first pg. Jalen and Ivey would be a matchup nightmare for everyone. Get Jalen and hit the trade market for a legit PF. Sengun will learn to hit 3’s and can play as a facilitator as well and he is underrated guarding the post. I could roll with Jalen, Ivey, KJM, PF, Sengun and be fairly confident of a play-in spot.
Carmelo Anthony per40 assist number is half of what Paolo Banchero is comparing their college season. "Inefficient" Paolo also has a better TS%, eFG%, equal 3pt%, and a better free throw shooter than Melo. Banchero's playmaking is grossly underappreciated here and some comps are getting lazy (not that they hold much relevance anyway).
Thank god you don't agree with me, considering you have some of the most terrible takes on this site. Praise Jesus!
Melo was a decent at best passer and playmaker who put all his focus on just scoring, it’s not like Banchero is elite in those categories Melo had pretty much every offensive move in his bag, he just never prioritized efficiency and settled for chucking inefficient midrange jumpers…however, nobody is surprised that Melo has scored over 28k points for his career I still don’t understand what Lebron 1.0 is supposed to mean. nowhere near the level of talent, nowhere near the playmaker, nowhere near the feel for the game…So why is Lebron getting mentioned? They’re nowhere near the same type of player Stephen A and Skip Bayless? for every example of him not being aggressive early in his career, there’s just as many where he was supremely aggressive and dominated Detroit happened…45 in game 7 at Boston in 08 happened…he averaged 39, 8, and 8 in the ECF against Orlando in 09…after the 2011 finals, game 6 against Boston happened the very next year
It is. Trying not to let the most recent results (NCAA tourny) sway me too much but Paolo is just a beast. Watching the Auburn elimination game, just really hit home how guard dependent Jabari is despite being an elite 3&D guy. I'm not saying Paolo doesn't need guards, but he can just create and get buckets on a level that's hard to match with this crop of players. He doesn't have Blake's athleticism, but he is far more skilled with the strength and footwork to match.
there is no miscommunication I think if he’s Melo, he’s a knockoff Melo, therefore I am comparing a knockoff Melo, aka Paolo, to Arby’s
To the people trying to compare Banchero's stats to Anthony's in college..... those are hard to compare. First, the pace of play on Syracuse 20 years ago was VASTLY different than what they play at Duke this season. Second, the style of play in the NCAA in 2002 was very different.... the types of shots taken were different. The comparison at a macro level is somewhat helpful to the extent that both are forwards, both are very talented offensively and both are not as talented defensively. However, anything beyond that isn't very instructive.
Look, I don't really care if Huevos Banchero is the next Melo or Blake but all I know is that the Arby's slander has got to stop.
You mention finishing ability then praise Jabari Smith, a guy who's a below average finisher at the rim amongst ALL NCAA D-1 basketball, which is pathetic for someone his size. I'm sure he can improve on his touch around the rim, but I've never seen something like that from a dude as big as him.
Yes Smith is dependent on guards, and it is why scouts have projected him as an all star type player but not a superstar. It is also why I personally have him locked in as the third best player in this draft. In fairness to Smith, getting him the ball really isn't that hard - Auburn just has **** guard play and it came back to bite them.... We saw the same thing happen to Gonzaga to an extent too.... they have great interior players, but the guard play was **** and the lost.... UH got very strong guard play from multiple players and beat Arizona.
Y’all are so off thinking Paolo is remotely a lead facilitator in mold of Lebron or even Cade. His handle is good for a big guy, and passing is solid for a big man. He is not in any way a point forward or lead ball handler lol
