CODA - Apple TV, 9 out of 10. Great performances (especially Emilia Jones and Troy Kotsur). Great writing. Great movie.

had to follow it up with Godfather Part II. More intricate, darker, more cerebral. Haven't watched this as many times as the first one, so it was closer to watching it fresh. I know it's as "great" a film as the first one, but it is just a hair below the first one I think, at least for me. still a 10/10 though

finished it up with Godfather: Coda. Better than I remembered, after a bit of a slow start (even by Godfather standards) the final 45 minutes or so are mesmerizing. And I knew what was coming. Giving this a 9/10. I'm really glad I watched these three in a row while waiting for west coast Rockets games

Few more visits to the classics.

The Nun's Story (1959) 9/10 - Watched it on a Sunday afternoon. Enjoyed it. Movie held up. Audrey Hepburn.
    Unforgiven (1992) 9/10 - One of Eastwood's bests.

I haven't seen this restored and tinted version of Murnau's Nosferau, 1922, but based on the preview below, it looks fantastic. Nosferau heavily influenced later films of the genre and it's backstory is a trip. At the time, a myth grew that the lead actor, Max Shreck, actually was a vampire. That myth persisted for many years. Who knows? Some might still believe it!

Director Robert Eggers is hard at work putting together the cast of a remake, with Anya Taylor-Joy reported as the female lead. Harry Styles was cast, but had to drop out due to "scheduling conflicts." Not sure when it will come out, or who else will be in the film, but definitely looking forward to seeing it.

I finally finished Blade Runner 2049 yesterday

I’d tried to watch this movie 3 times before in the past few years, but couldn’t get through it…I would either fall asleep, or just lose interest

this movie has high marks on Rotten Tomatoes, but I guess it just isn’t for me

the world this movie is set in is really depressing…if I knew this was what our future would be like, lord, just take me now…I don’t think I saw the Sun appear once…everyone has zero emotion

movie just drags too much for my liking

Did this really need to be almost 3 hours?

would not watch again or recommend to a friend

    4/10

I heard about Shadow of the Vampire when it came out, intended to see it, but then forgot all about the film. Life must have intervened somehow. Go figure. Thanks for the heads-up! I really like vampire flicks, and if they are satires, so much the better. What We Do in the Shadows is brilliant. We don't currently have Hulu, or I would have seen the series. I should probably "try" Hulu and binge on the 3 seasons. Have you seen it?

In my unhumble opinion, it's the best comedy show around.

There's enough good stuff on Hulu to merit subscribing for a month or 2 at least. I'm watching Summer of Soul at some point today.

5/10 is pretty much how i felt about Power of the Dog. I kinda guessed (correctly) mid way what was going on, and who doing 'you know what' to Benedict's character. I like that the movie didn't spoon feed. Cinematography was decent. It's one of those movies where I can see why it may hit people a certain way. Bunch of critics had it as their top 10 of the year. But I didn't like it as much.

I kept saying "need to watch that, need to watch that...". Today is the day. Ribs and beers and LOUD on the patio in a couple of hours.
