I’m actually not sure . 7&8 are still play in right ? They could still end up there yes ? if you lose in the play in are you lottery ? Or do you keep your spot ?
It depends on how you word it. The play-in determines the final 2 spots in each conference. So they determine the "final" positions 7 and 8 in the playoffs - the best 6 records percentage-wise aren't part of the play-in; they get automatic bids into the playoffs. Right now there are 4 play-in teams in each conference. Those are teams 7, 8, 9, and 10. In the East, currently that's Toronto, Brooklyn, Charlotte, and Atlanta. So this would be how the play-in works in a nutshell : #7 seed vs #8 seed ... winner goes into the playoffs as the #7 seed in the playoffs and is out of the lottery. Loser waits for the winner of the #9 vs. #10 seed. #9 seed vs #10 seed... winner goes on to play loser of #7 and #8 above. Loser is out of the playoffs and in the lottery. Loser of #7 vs #8 plays winner of #9 vs. #10... winner or this is in the playoffs as the #8 seed in the playoffs. Loser is in the lottery. So... if you're a #9 or #10 seed, you have to win twice to make the playoffs. If you're a #7 or #8 seed, on the other hand, you get 2 shots to win once to make the playoffs.
Nets @ Memphis tonight could be big as a Nets loss and Hornet win would open a tie at 8 and 9 seeds. Hawks plays Detroit so either Hawks chances of catching the Nets increases (or stays same) or Detroit gets a win making it harder for Rockets to get worse than the 5th pick.
Yeah, #8 and #9 is the difference between needing to win once or win twice. (Damn the Wizards for falling off too far. There's no chance the Nets will miss the play-in.) So hoping either Charlotte or Atlanta will pass them. If they lose the play-in, they will be ordered with the lottery teams, which is 14 at the worst.
but if they are 8 dont they play road toronto ( no kyrie ) and then home BKN ( possibly no kyrie ) they could win or lose vs either opponent . depends too on what the 1st game was like if you go on to play a second ( for each team)
C'mon man. I can be critocal AND still be a loyal fan. Loyal as in die hard, not as in goose stepping. 2 consecutive historically bad losing seasons EVER. I'm entitled to gripe.
Hell no, but hopefully someone notes the hypocrisy. I guess the Yankees carry a bigger stick than MLB.
Hornets just lost to the Knicks by 15 at home Hawks got delivered a severe case of the beats courtesy of Detroit these 2 teams aren’t serious
Hawks have lost to Detroit twice in like the last 2 weeks I know Detroit has been much better, but those are games u have to win they’d currently be the 8th seed right now if they had handled business in these games
Down goes Brooklyn... down goes Brooklyn! It's obvious Memphis doesn't need Morant. We should trade our Brooklyn pick for him... and maybe a 2nd rounder.
