And that is the upside of course. But will need much longer/more talented defenders alongside them up than Tate, KJ, Sengun or Wood. Need Garuba to pan out as elite defender. Maybe Queen too.
I'm not really concerned with most of those players. For the most part, outside of 1 or 2 they have no future on this team A backcourt of JG/Ivey is a pretty solid foundation to see what's there going forward, if that's what ends up being the pick
I mean do you not think we are seeing a rejuvenation of elite big men in the NBA. Aside from the two you mentioned. All the contenders have elite bigs. Gobert has far more of an impact on winning than Mitchell does. Adebayo, Giannis(MKE is huge), Davis. Then next up you see Ayton, we see what that massive front line is doing in Cleveland(Allen's absence has been huge). Vucevic is underated for Chicago. Memphis frontcourt is massive and Adams is underated he and Ja compliment each other beautifully. Towns is waking up. Other than that the only other strong teams just loaded up on massive wings. But I'm probably only seeing what I want to see.
The bigs you mentioned are relevant primarily because of the perimeter players they play with. Outside of Giannis. He's not really a C. It's still a guards league in the modern era. Embiid and Jokic are the only two guys who have taken their teams in the playoffs with some success as the lead guy. But we've seen that ceiling already. And Embiid now has Harden to see if they can get to that next level. Jokic still doesn't have that guy. Until then, Denver will still be capped as just another playoff team
Ivey is every bit the prospect of Green and so is Banchero, Jalen would not be top 5 and maybe not top 10.
I agree with all of this, but I don't understand why Banchero has to be a rim protector he is not a 5 and is more of a 3/4 so why should he be knocked because he is not a rim protector. I knew the Auburn guards were going to be the ending for them, they are terrible and just jack up shots. I have to blame Pearl for that.
Yes I don't really know how to classify centers which is why I said bigs. Giannis very clearly is not a guard, he literally bullies people under the rim. Davis is not a guard. Denver has a ton of injuries, they are not capped, Murray is their 2nd star and Porter their 3rd. Regardless when was the last time a guard lead a championship team? It's been bigs Davis/Giannis the last two. Then a bunch of wings. Hell KD/Bron are the size of bigs. Curry in 2015? Although Iggy got the MVP. Kobe in 2010? I don't think it's a guards league anymore. We can rule out Mem/Phx they are just extremely well built and keep winning no matter who is out. Jazz are lead by Gobert Cavs are lead by Allen or at least frontcourt committee. Cavs, Jazz, Suns, Mem(14-2 w/o Ja), Philly, Bucks, BK, Den? Chi? These are the contenders I think... 3 teams are lead by guards DeRozan, Booker/CP3, Ja
It could be someone on the roster like Christopher or someone not even on the team. For example the Rockets could go after someone like Tyus Jones or Jalen Brunson.
I am pretty confident that Ivey will be a good to very good defender..... Ivey also has the length/wingspan to guard 2's and 3's and the foot speed to guard 1's. Letting Green guard point guards will help his defense quite a bit as well. The front court defensively would definitely need improvement, with the Brooklyn pick the Rockets could target Tari Eason..... that would really be a good foundation for the Rockets.
Yes Denver is capped. That team is not going to win a championship even if murray/porter were healthy. They're not those type of guys to be able to take jokic to the next level. Murray is nothing more than a solid player. Porter was a terrible signing. He's far from a star. until they upgrade a #2 guy for jokic they're nothing but a playoff team that doesn't have a realistic shot at winning a title. Anthony Davis was not the leader of the lakers team. Lebron was. Anthony Davis was sitting on home during the playoffs for years as the lead guy. he didn't win anything significant until he joined Lebron, which is exactly why he went there Giannis didn't take the next step until the bucks made the move for holiday. He isn't the lead guy but he damn sure was that signifcant piece to get them to the title It's clearly still a guards league. Utah isn't led by Gobert. It's easily Mitchell. Gobert is impact when it comes to actually winning Cavs are led by Garland Why is phx ruled out? They're led by cp3/booker. Clearly guards. Phx only lost 10 games this year in 58 games with cp3. that's an 82% win percentage. They're 10-4 without cp3. That's a 71% win percentage. ruling out memphis makes no sense either. Clearly they're led by ja morant who is having a mvp caliber year
Banchero is also a three level scorer with range. Neither Smith nor Chet are 3 level scorers yet for some reason you rank them over Banchero? I don't understand why Chet's and Smith's negatives get ignored yet Banchero's are taken as gospel. I like Ivey a lot and would maybe pick him over Banchero but I would be open to taking him over the other 2 guys as well. I don't know how anybody can say Smith is hands down a better prospect when he has shown the most flaw in his game of ever being a true franchise type guy. It's very telling that you think Banchero is a big man who gets most of his shots at the rim, it's not true at all. Banchero rebounding is a plus, much more than solid. He is a much better defender than you are giving him credit for and once again he is not a center so who cares if he is not a shot blocker or rim protector.
We need a team full of nothing but guards. Let's draft Jaden Ivey and Jaden Hardy. That should be enough to ensure another tanking season so that we can then draft Amari Bailey
Once Gordon is traded and Porter is dumped there will be plenty of minutes for Ivey and Green and Christopher.
Yeah but what happens when the Jalen Green fans turn on Ivey and there's another flashy quick guard coming up in the draft? There's just no way we could avoid taking another one. Quick flashy guards are the new 6'9 PF.
Both Ray allen and Klay Thompson have/had much better handles, sorry DRock this is not a great comparison.
