He has to go. I’m off the fence about it. As much as I like the guy, the lack of defense and discipline is just too much to overlook at this point. Let him finish the year, but they need new leadership.

That is the issue. Why hasn’t Green been given the opportunities earlier to establish himself and develop his game.

I don’t see this as Silas fault as the team has made a commitment to KPJ at the point and has taken into account all of the variables. They know KPJ is reckless, has character issues, unrefined. But that was the whole point of the acquisition—to see what they can get out of him knowing he has the physical talent and tools and potential to be a really good player. The organization likely thought they had a good support group in the coaching staff and management. they knew it would take time and patience to develop this player and so they haven’t thrown in the towel yet. They are keen on not giving up on him knowing how delicate the situation is psychologically for KPJ so they have been very careful. I don’t think they view him the same as they did a year ago and probably has made a decision to not extend his rookie contract and maybe trade him at some point before next year’s deadline.

But the KPJ experiment as I argued hurt Green’s development as most of the plays run through him if not Wood. Green simply didn’t have enough touches and opportunities to make plays as evidenced in the reporting about him getting the least touches out of the lottery rookies. But I think Green’s confidence and know how was different in the first half of the season as well. So it’s a combination of both inexperience and KPJ’s presence not allowing him to grow as the other lottery picks have.

Last night showed why he has to go! No respect, no leadership, no discipline, no defense and ultimately no win!

I'm a KPJ fan but he should've NEVER been able to get back in the game. Players are constantly making mistakes and he doesn't call a timeout to pinpoint teachable moments.

    It's HORRIBLE

I expect him to build a culture of accountability. I expect to see improvement in the basics such as defense, free throw shooting, lane infractions, at least the little things like that. You’re right, he didn’t sign up or this, and with a veteran team he might be a better fit, but these guys look leaderless. The **** that KPJ pulled last night is a good example of it. They play like they know there are no consequences. Tanking year or not, that can’t be acceptable.

Credit to you Hakeem94, you are one of the very few who stuck with my original first account posts and continuous ones that we need to get rid of this coaching staff (minus Lucas). You are not one of the sheep who calls us out and rips on us and then sees the light a year later. Keep up the good, intelligent replies!!!

whats a big deal...did kpj killed somebody last night?
what exactly he did? i dont get it...

of course they miss free throws and lax the defense otherwise they would be making playoffs...

do you want playoffs or chet?

its not his fault hes just an employee following the company line...

as per accountability didnt wood got suspended for 1 game? there you have it...

again you cant blame this on coach, this org lacks talent and tanking is the only way....i am not interested in 1st round exits...

cmon why so rigid and pennypicnhing? its just one game and one weak moment of anger, confusion or whatever
what mattters is the mistakes the go on from moment to moment(eg nwaba not working on 3pt shot) and from game to game and even then, its silas job now to secure top pick, his hands are tied....he cant coach otherwise the tank would be destroyed

Is be shocked if Silas is still the coach of this team by the end of next season. Wouldn't be surprised if he loses his job this offseason.

Surely even the FO recognizes that even during a tank having a coach as impotent as Silas hurts the locker room and development. I wouldn't be as upset if he was just bad at Xs and Os because uou just get a better coach when the team is ready to compete but Silas is so passive that it actively hurts to team as ironic as that is. He just exists

Disagree….thinking we keep him until he wins at least 20 games. Another rookie newbie should about get us there next season.

Some people should never be a "Head" coach - one of those people is Stephen Silas.

He has no structure, he has no discipline, he has no respect or the players wouldn't be acting out like they are, an he has no clue.

I don't give two ***** that he thought he would coach Harden and Westbrook, that would have failed with his sorry ass as coach too.

His dad sucked as a coach and his son is even worse.....young players need structure.....keeping Silas is going to facilitate the sucking for more years.

    Buh Bye Steve!

cmon he deserves a fair chance, you simply cant make a fair assesment of a coach on a tanking team with serious lack of talent and all the turmoil...hes given a raw deal , he thought hed have harden and westbrook on the team when he was taking this job.....

You don't have to get a FAIR CHANCE at anything you can see how weak he is at dealing with adversity, how crappy he is at setting boundaries and expectations for players.

You can SEE how terrible he is - just has zero plan, no accountability, nothing.

He is a crappy head coach, the only thing he deserves is to get paid the money owed on his contract and be run out of town, he sucks.

    Silas isn’t in charge ...
But I don’t think he’s actually been given the opportunity

the mandate above is to lose
The mandate above was to have this year to set up wood and kpj .
There was a mandate to start green from the get go .
There is prolly a mandate now to play nix and JC more

Silas is being told what to do by stone and co.

idk if he is here next year . But this much losing takes a toll . If we are tanking again next year , surely he won’t stick around to see the fruits of his labor .

I’m sure the coaching staff has had it up to here with kpj and wood , yet they still consistently lead in minutes ... why ... front office .

we are watching a tank , that is designed to be a tank . There is no margin for error , playing harder , or setting good habits ... those help you win games .

there’s 15 or so games left and we are leading the pack ... you think that happened by accident ?

lottery odds is the new LTS , until we are good again .

If we tank again next year I won’t watch a game until we make it to the second round .

This is the second season in a row of straight **** product . You feed me a third I’m only coming back when desert island served . Back to Silas , feel sorry for the guy . I don’t think he’s got autonomy . Hard to be a leader when your authority is cut off at the heels .

maybe he gets a real chance next year . Maybe not .

Ferntits through Stone is recycling half used lemon wedges and trying to resell it for dollars on the penny.

A team with plenty would've dumped KPJ and Wood for protected draft picks through addition by subtraction.

OTOH Stone overplayed his hand and demanded low FRP for those bums because they churned decent numbers.

Now there are two locker room cancers ruining chemistry and a winning culture because Silas has no clout or power to contain them without answering to FO on why the value of their trade assets are lower.
