Think everyone is reacting to a fake twitter post which had him saying something that shouldn’t have been said about Jaylen Green.
Do you have a link or advice on how to find that Silas interview? It’s pretty damning if he doesn’t stick up for his guy.
Why does he refuse to give green his proper respect? green needed to be the one taking the clutch 4th qtr shot… not KPJ
At least Green gets to be in the game during clutch 4th quarter minutes. Sengun was balling and can’t even play in front of…kj Martin?
if Silas or Stone had any stones they'd call Wood into the office and tell him straight "we need you off the bench, sengun is starting." if he doesn't like his new role he can take off for personal reasons until the end of the season. similar discussion with KPJ "the ball is going from Jalen to alpy, then to you." the issue is either Silas and/or stone don't think that' the right move, or are afraid of the backlash from the players/agents. either way its weak or inept. next year it will be even more abundantly clear when we have another top 5 rookie to needs the ball. Jalen is 1a, our top pick will be 1b. no one else will matter with the possible exception of alpy.
To be fair, both Wood and KPJ were given the keys to the team very early on, and they were both known to have serious attitude issues (which is why Wood bounced around 6 teams in 6 seasons, and why Cavaliers gave KPJ up for nothing). The Rockets were desperate for talent, so at that point attitude and culture obviously wasn't a point of focus. Now that the flaws of these players are beginning to show, and other players are starting to show that they are more valuable/reliable assets, the Rockets are stuck between a rock and a hard place. Do the Rockets risk a complete locker room meltdown by telling Wood and KPJ that both of them need to start differing more of their offensive possessions to the rookies (which will also kill their trade value)? Or do they ride it out and make changes in the off-season? At the end of the day, it'll be tough for any coach, let alone an inexperienced one, to be dealing with two players that are willing to quit on the team at any point if things aren't going their way (and these same two players drive your offense as well). The hope right now is that the FO is able to recognize which players they should be committing resources to, and that they are waiting till the off-season to make changes, because it would be the right move to maintain the values of these players and unload them later.
Fair points. I'm not going to say you're wrong. But I don't think they should really worry about wood and KPJ quitting on them or some locker room melt down. We can/should move on from them and build around Jalen, a top 5 pick, and the other rookies. the sooner the better. its a business and wood/kpj will have to either accept it or move on. if you're worried about their reaction tanking their trade value, I honestly don't think we need their trade value. we're loaded with picks, we should have at least 2-3 foundational pieces from our '21-'23 drafts plus a ton of cap space in '23 to build around them. lots of potential complementary pieces coming through the pipeline too. I would like to give KPJ another year to prove himself as a starting PG, but he's gotta know he's the 3rd option. otherwise I'm ready to move on from both. there is no room for wood if we draft chet, jabari, banchero or even duren. there may not be room for kpj if we draft Ivey or anyone else who will need the ball (griffin, Mathurin). the end is near for both of them. kpj has more of a chance to stick around than wood based on the players in the top 5 of the draft, but either way KPJ will be demoted from 1st option to 3rd at best. I'm in favor of making those moves now to give Jalen and sengun more experience in their likely roles next season.
Fire SILAS NOW!!!! He is letting the inmates run the asylum - there is no leadership, no respect, no plan, and everyone is on their own. This Sucks - KPJ should be benched for 2 games with a This is your final strike any more **** and you will simply be cut.... Wood needs to be held accountable for his lack of defense. And, tell the kids to stop celebrating meaningless ****ing plays when your team is losing...... Our heads are FIRMLY IN OUR OWN ASS....from top to bottom.... There is no leadership - and it will set back the rebuild by years. DD
You are absolutely right we are achieving objective for the season. It's really nice that we are all on the same page. I think the person you were responding was thinking beyond this year. One would think that in year 2 of green and year one of another to 5 pick that we would not be buying for the worst record next season
