It's settled then. Land at three and we draft Ivey. Maybe see if we can bring his mom, Niele, over to coach the squad.
The BBIQ is definitely there — makes sense his mom is a coach. He has real potential as a perimeter playmaker on defense too. I don’t think I could draft him above Chet or Jabari, but I feel better about drafting him than Banchero. (For what it’s worth, I think Banchero is Julius Randle or Blake Griffin— he’ll get numbers and probably even some all star appearances.)
Jalen green is more fast/quick, where as Ivey is a physical force. Both are super explosive, but honestly I think I like Ivey even more. I hope we can land Chet, Jabari or Ivey. Hard no on Paolo.
I dont really get the Blake comparison for Banchero. Banchero is pretty smooth while i always thought Blake isn't smooth at all. Also Banchero isn't as athletic as Blake. Banchero's shot looks a lot better too. I can see the Randle comparison tho
If KPJ actually drove to the basket relentlessly instead of settling for dribble step backs and absorbed contact while finishing instead of contorting his body and shooting strange looking off balance stuff and landing on one foot awkwardly then yeah I see it.
Chet’s ceiling is probably the highest out of everyone but his floor might be Bol Bol. I wouldn’t be mad if we took that gamble though. I would be pissed if we took Jabari over Ivey though. I’m sure Jabari will turn into a fine player one day, reminds me of Rashard Lewis. But you don’t take Rashard Lewis over Ja Morant.
Ivey has firmly landed in the top tier with chet/Jabari for me. No longer am I hoping for a top 2 pick, but rather a top 3 pick will suffice
Who is stopping Jalen Green and Jaden Ivey in transition? I agree with the fast/quick versus physical force take. Right off, you notice that although they are similar height, Ivey’s physique stands out. His arms are way longer and his shoulders are broader. His hands are bigger. He doesn’t just look the part, he uses that strength to constantly attack the basket and if he can’t get around you, he will try to power through you. I would compare his attacking and finishing style mostly to a young Westbrook. Not a lot of fancy dribble moves, just a move or two and a burst to the basket. He’s not as fast as Jalen Green, but he’s faster than most. Not as agile, can’t contort his body like JG, and is stiffer in the hips, but he is still a freaky athlete and has the advantage in length and strength over Green. He wants to get a step on you, explode to the basket and tear the rim down. Jalen Green is one of the fastest and twitchiest players I’ve seen in a while. I struggle trying to find a comp I like because he’s a lot faster than most of his contemporaries, but doesn’t have the same kind of frame or length. His balance and agility isn’t talked about nearly enough. Nobody ever talks about his feet, but watch his footwork it’s really good. The sudden bursts, the ability to stop on a dime, and the change of direction. I think he’s way ahead of Ivey in that regard so he’s overall a more deadly all around scorer which goes back to all the predictions that he’d likely lead the NBA in scoring one day. Plus his body is still not developed. 10 more pounds and he's even scarier.
he’s just not as exciting or as interesting as the top 3 to me he’s like when u win a prize, but then u see what the other 3 people won, and so you’re kinda salty on the low even tho your prize isn’t that bad…that’s Paolo
Rockets could of had Mobley-Ivey or Mobley-Banchero or Mobley-Jabari or Mobley-Chet. Will settle for Green-Chet/Jabari instead.
This is blasphemous but I think we need to keep Wood, extend him, and start him with Sengun. Draft Ivey and look to move kpj instead.
