Why would he demand the ball? His game is catch and shoot, or step in and shoot. Not the guy you give the ball with a defender set in front of him.
Jabari Smith will be a solid NBA player and hopefully will learn from this game. This was probably the biggest game of his life so far and can see this failure as a learning experience. With that said, I think Chet held himself better yesterday with a bad game.
This Green dude for Auburn has been absoultely ass cheeks, Tigers just no chance to get back into the game with that guy cranking bad shots
Miami is a good team. Beat Duke earlier in the year. Jabari just off. Tough D from Miami is making easy looks for shooters non existent. It’s tough for a guy so limited with dribble moves and an iso package to impact games against good perimeter defenses when they sell out to take away those shots. Auburn missing all those easy buckets killed them. Didn’t bring their A game. Ivey not doing anything at all in the 1st half is surprising.
Sucks you have to watch this crappy product to evaluate all these players. I didn't want to see Bruce Pearl sweating through an orange suit so I decided not to watch.
Did not get to see Auburn until about 7 minutes left in the game, but looks like their guards were off their meds or something.
After 4 days of having the games on in the background of various activities and devouring the tape like a venus flytrap - this may be a 2015 level draft with 100% certainty Ready to roll with Christian and EGO next season.
He’s my preference but I would be happy with any of the bigs and even Ivey, but you would need to move one of the other young wings to free up the playing time for him IMO. Not a dealbreaker. If KPJ is not going to cut it then replace him with Ivey, but this team needs size in the worst way.
(1a) Chet Holmgren: Old for a freshman. Turns 20 in May. He reclassified down. I am very concerned about him stat padding in that weak ass conference though. He does have some very mediocre games on his ledger against the good teams and that scares me. The game yesterday did nothing to alleviate my concerns so I'm waffling a little, but I think Chet has the most potential to be a legit 2 way impact player. We need defense BADLY! (1b) Jabari Smith: Turns 19 in May. I'm not concerned about how his game translates at all or his frame. He can shoot and be a good help defender right now. I am however concerned about his upside for a number 1 or 2 pick if he doesn't learn how to put the ball on the floor and create his own shot. On the Rockets though, it's not that much of a deterrent to me because there are other guys that can create for him. We can wait for him to hash the rest of his game out while he's being a knockdown shooter and being a lengthy defender. (3) Jaden Ivey: Sophomore that turned 20 in February. He's 4 days younger than Jalen Green. I'm not going to lie, he may be my favorite player in this draft. I think everything he is good at will translate to the NBA and I believe in his work ethic to tighten up the things that he needs to work on. He's already made massive strides since his freshman season. I think that we would be set at the guard position for 10 years with them both sharing playmaking duties. We'd have the most explosive backcourt in the NBA with two attacking guards that drive the ball and can kick out to open shooters or hit cutters to the basket. Fill in the pieces around them with shooting and a defensive anchor. (4) Paolo Banchero: Turns 20 in November. I'm not going to lie, his game impresses me, but I'm concerned about his defense on the next level and if he can play the way he plays on offense in the NBA against bigger and stronger guys. He has an impressive set of tools.
people don't want banchero because of sengun but i think it's damn well too early to be considering sengun right now. he needs to lock himself in a lab and don't come out till he can hit 35% on 3's. if he does that, i think he's a smart enough player he could fit next to anyone, banchero included. this league is and has always been about buckets. get me the guy that you can give the ball to down the stretch.
I agree. We'll get one of those 3. Banchero and Chet could play well with Wood while we have him. Jabari I think would be redundant.
A box score lists Miami starters as 4 Guards and a forward. That's probably a quicker team that he probably shouldn't try to dribble against. Not sure if Chet would prevent getting his pocket picked if he tried? Before someone blasts me....Chet had a game during the season where he had 10 points as well. Jabari registered 15 rebs and 4 asts. So Rockets need that as well.
