You make an excellent point re offensive play I think this holds true for either Chet or Jabari. Jabari has a certain "something" which makes me think he could be a 20ppg NBA scorer - but he needs space to develop his dribble repertoire. Chet probably has a wider NBA offensive game than Jabari straight off the bat, but I feel Jabari has more room to grow
speaking of tatum hes currently one of most overrated players...5 or so years in the league, never went anywhere, a lot of playoffs blunders despite constantly playing on stacked rosters, surrounded by multiple allstars, great role players, coaches and defensive systems on a team with a great homecourt and favored by nba and the refs....
Same here, Chet is top 3 without a doubt, deservedly so, but he’ll be facing a Duren every night and he faded physically after holding his own early. Maybe he’ll add the muscle but Jabari is the clear top pick imo
Then why are u pushing the same talking points that were used against Mobley with Chet after seeing Mobley destroy those narratives 1st hand? Mobley - very skinny with small shoulders, a high ass, and flamingo legs…won’t be a scorer, will take years to develop, will get bodied by every single big, etc this is literally Evan Mobley right now and he is eating in this league as a rookie about to win ROY Chet can be an elite rim protector and elite shooter as a big while being mobile and skilled
The statement was that KPJ had a higher upside. I still think that's true, but Green has really looked good the past month and a half and KPJ has struggled with injury, so I can see why some might question that. Green could absolutely end up the better player, but I stand by the reasons I said KPJ had the higher upside as a 2 way combo guard.
ya'll sleeping on banchero. i still think he has the highest ceiling of anyone in the draft. we get to overreact to Jabari/Paolo/Ivey today.
This tournament has me waffling on my earlier picks. Banchero has looked better than Chet. Jabari is my clear no. 1 now. Really not sure about Chet after this game. This game went exactly as i predicted with Duren and Williams getting in foul trouble and Timme feasting. Chet does hang in there and gets some blocks against big guys, but will he be able to do it against polished NBA bigs and can he absorb the punishment game after game? People point to Mobley, but he is playing a wing with a legit defensive center in Allen. If we draft Chet and say Kessler can Chet play the same role as Mobley and doesn’t that make what makes him special (shot blocking) less of a differentiation? My new board after these early games: Jabari Banchero Ivey Chet Keegan I wish we could see more of Keegan and who knows maybe Chet will get better and Banchero fall off the rest of the tournament.
Some highlights... Hunter Dickinson: Legit size, range, decent foot work. Current day Brad Miller could beat him in a foot race. He would definitely fit Rockets offense but we need someone stronger defensively obviously. Timme: Foot. Work. NBA teams will probably say he needs some more range. Duren: 7pt 7rb 1blk 1to Two bad games, great body build wise and definitely is not shy or afraid to be aggressive doesn't seem to know his own abilities. Yea he is young and was obviously hype to improve his draft position by going at Chet but all he did imo was drastically hurt himself. Big time project. Chet: 9pt 9rb 4blks 2to Looked absolutely lost on offense and with all the talk of his offensive ability he hasn't shown it like previous 1 and done athletes. However, not once did he take himself out of the game, he was always dialed in on the defensive side. (Ok that flop attempt was stupid, not sure why he would even want to foul Duren out as he was actually hurting Memphis) and Chet got most of his highlights on Duren but he consistently challenged shots. He probably gets destroyed by the tier 1,2 & 3 level NBA 5's 1 on 1, physical reasons, but his defensive effort and team mentality is exactly what the Rockets need. He should progress physical in a year a two and with that mindset he should be a top their game changer. Idk if he is the consensus #1 around the league but he has definitely got to be near the top for the Rockets.
In what way has Banchero looked better than Chet? He did worse against the 15 seed than Chet did against the 16 seed. Chet dominated Duren last night and was the focal point of Memphis defense.
Chet was out there battlin'. Duren was coming for him and I think it rattled him a bit and made his game shrink. Only 7 shots in a close game and missed all his 3 pointers? I know the Zags have some upperclassmen and Timme had it going, but I dont know man I was kind of hoping to see some alpha from him and the flop when Duren was backing him down wasnt a great look, but the Zags won so the good news is that there will be another game and more tape to dissect! Pumped to see Paolo, Jabari, and Ivey later today!
I believe we have found our go to scorer in Green. The guy you give the ball, when you need a basket and that can get off a good shot against any defense in any situation. Now we need two kinds of players most: 1. PG that can initiate the offense, is a great defender and 3pt shooter 2. Players, that play great off the ball, can hit open shots, set good screens, grab rebounds and are plus defenders So while I am still happy we got Green over Mobley or Barnes, those are exactly the kind of players, that would help us now. Good for us, that the two top prospects (Chet and Jabari) are also exactly that. We don‘t need them to be primary scorers. Though I believe Jabari can develope into one, he would be valuable as a screen setter/ spot up shooter early on. That‘s also the reason, why I am a little less enthusiastic with Paolo or Ivey. I believe they need the ball in their hands to be really effective. Still I am all for going bpa and not thinking too much about fit at this point in our rebuild.
