Jabari is still my first choice, and then Banchero/Chet my second. Chet is a project though and not short one either. He’ll take a couple of seasons to bulk up. Gotta do it gradually with that frame. He might be able to improve a lot in offense in The league but at the moment he doesn’t look like he’ll be a 1st or 2nd option on offense. Not even 3rd. If we get him maybe he can be our Gobert. And that’s ok But we’ll need another season of tanking to get another lottery pick and scorer.
I thought there was some rule that skinny centres had to slowly dribble it up the court, waving off the guards!!!
Dudes don't learn. Guys are drafted for what they will be 5 years from now, not what they will be in 2022. Chet fills out, gets stronger, stays healthy...he's a complete unicorn. Won't be mad at all if we get him.
Timme is great in the post for the college level perfect example of guys that are studs at the college level, but whose game would not translate to the NBA, however I do see a lot of Sengun in him. He may be able to make a living like Enes Kanter instant offense int he post.
What is lost in this is that for all the talk about how someone like Duren would give Chet problems, Duren had one of his worst games of the year. 2-9 shooting, got blocked twice, and only played 21 minutes thanks to foul trouble. His backup looked miles better than him.
Despite my anti-Auburn bias, I think I'm leaning Jabari as the #1.....but learning that he's Kwame Brown's cousin gives me pause.
Mobley was supposed to be a project too and someone who would get dominated by the physicality in the NBA he doesn’t need to be a #1 option or top flight offensive player, Jalen Green already has that covered
I have Chet and Jabari in their own tier and lean towards Chet because I believe he easily has the most upside in the draft…then Jaden Ivey…then the rest I don’t really rate and would be disappointed on draft night if we ended up with them
The real big brain move is if Chet beat Duren so badly that he falls to the Brooklyn pick. Already helping out his future team.
I was leaning to Jabari early on in the season when it was unclear whether Jalen Green could be a real #1 option in the NBA, and whether he was a foundational piece or a failure to launch. Leaning more on Chet now that Green is confirmed as the real deal.
Why are you all overthinking yourselves into not drafting the best player... If you get number 1 you pick Chet and don't look back..... He is exactly what The Rockets need.....
Timme is a good college player. In the nba though, I see him as a lesser Sengun. The issue Timme is going to have is that he’s gonna have to play C in the NBA. He’s not likely going to have the advantage of playing next to a guy like Chet who can match up against centers but play like a stretch 4 offensively.
Re: Chet, I don’t think that game changed many peoples minds whether you love him or not. I thought he did well going against a stronger, more athletic and more physical player. He pretty much neutralized him. That said, on this team I think the goal would be to have him and Sengun start together and in that case Chet plays the Wood role (except better) and let’s Sengun handle the bumping and grinding against other big bodies. When Chet is in by himself, he’ll be able to hold it down as the lone big better than Wood does now.
