Hawks: Nets 2022 FRP + EGo/Tate Rockets: Jalen Johnson + Hawks 2023 FRP https://theathletic.com/3192618/202...rookie-jalen-johnson-crack-atlantas-rotation/
I like Jalen Johnson for sure. Nets Pick+Tate/Wood to get up for Duren Pair that pick with Holmgren. Alpi/Duren Holmgren/Garuba Christopher/KMJ Green/Matthews KPJ/Dennis/Nix
like it a lot would pull out Tate to move in a smaller trade centered around him: Tate …for… DayRon Sharpe Keeping with youthful players that pair well with Sengun & Green. Let Schroeder go, too. Why keep him; both Christopher & Nix could use the playing time. Garuba & KJ look like natural wings that can play big if need to me. We need to get bigger & change our schemes. Hopefully through the draft much needed size will happen.
I like Duren. Who knows, maybe it ends up Duren starting next to Alpi(if he develops a 3) or Holmgren. With Duren, Holmgren, Sengun, Garuba and KMJ our front court should be set. Holmgren and KMJ being able to play some "big wing" as well.
You do realize that Rockets play a 5 out offense right? And Duren is not a 4 nor can he play with Sengun. They both need to play same spots on offense AND defense to maximize their efficiency.
If we get rid of Silas we don’t have to play a five out offense. Duren may drop after last night to 9-11, so the package to move up might not have to be as distract. I’m really leaning on best player available with our first pick. If it is Ivey I’m trying really hard to move up for Keegan or Duren, preferably Keegan. A lineup of Jalen, Ivey, KPJ or KJM, Keegan, Sengun. OH MY! If we still don’t have enough defense we trade for a rim protector to add to rotation as needed.
Yes, I know. And I know that Silas is a Bo Porter and 5 Out may not carry over to when we actually go to win games. Sengun has also (obviously) been given the green light to take the three and work on extending his range. His form looks ok and I see him getting to 33%ish. Sengun is also a great passer and Duren a a big time athlete. I get that Duren may not create ideal spacing for Sengun but with the passing of Sengun and the finishing and movement of Duren, I can see them sharing the court for a few minutes a game. Especially if AL P is hitting closer to 35%. We very well may be able to move up higher and get a better prospect then Duren with our second pick but I am a firm believer in wanting a bigger, stronger, finishing type of big in the rotation next to Sengun/Garuba/Smith or Holmgren.
Would trading Wood for lottery pick be up for grabs? Knicks or Wizards could be Cwood bound for a top 10 pick.
I’d trade wood along with the nets lick to move up into the lottery. Addition by substraction and a better prospect.
You may be right. I would prefer Keegan. It really depends on where we pick and who is available. If we end up with Ivey, I’m not too concerned with Sengun and Duren being our back court, because on offense Sengun can play outside in certain rotations and I believe he will develop a good 3 pt shot. You can go super athletic with Jalen, Ivey, KJM or Garuba(if he pans out), Sengun operating at the top of the key at times. Duren can very well end up as a pretty good PnR center. Picking Duren would probably prolong our re-build another year as he is definitely going to struggle on offense until he develops at least a decent mid-range shot. There may be a better defensive pick out there, I just haven’t had the time to watch all the candidates. No matter what we need to get more rim protection via draft or trade if we don’t want to tank another year, because I defense will never be effective without one.
Duren just reminds me of Dwight-lite. He is under 6'10 but long wingspan (7'5). Very good post rim protector but will never be even average as perimeter defender, not switchable.
Jazz need to some frontcourt help. Saw them Hernagomez. After they flame out in the first round we should try to trade Wood to them for 3 future FRP.
I seriously doubt the Spurs would ever deal him to us, but would love to get Dejounte Murray. We have enough capitol to make a competitive at some point in the next year or two. He does everything you’d want and is only getting better.
What do people think here about a possible AD trade? I don't see the Lakers moving him, but if they are, especially given his injury history, I'm wondering how people think of a trade like AD for Christian Wood, Jae'sean Tate, Garrison Matthews, Eric Gordon, a protected FRP (maybe the Bucks 2023 FRP?). I think it would have to take a package like that to get in the ballpark (probably more, actually, but I think this isn't that far off). Personally, I'd be open to it. Yes, AD has an injury history, but he has 3 years left on his contract and we'd be gambling on his ability to stay healthy going forward. A starting lineup of Jalen Green, KPJ, Sengun, AD, and Jabari Smith/Chet/Ivey would be amazing. Wood and Gordon aren't part of this team's long term plans so trading them isn't too big of a loss, and KJ is proving to be pretty decent so Tate is expendable. Although I love Matthews, if we can get AD in return? It might be worth it. For the Lakers, I see a huge overhaul this offseason with the team. A starting lineup with Tate, Lebron James, Matthews, and Wood is a massive improvement over their current state and gives them two pieces that are clearly long-term players, proven, and young in Tate and Wood, as well as a very good off-the-ball shooter without the defensive liabilities of Reeves. Gordon is a great veteran guard off the bench that gives you shooting and defense, and his contract is effectively expiring so they'll be able to move on from him after the season which will give them cap flexibility that they currently lack. Obviously, this doesn't do anything for their Russ problem, but I don't see a market for him anymore. Do they do Russ + a pick for Wall? I hope so, but that's probably their only and best option. Adding Wall to Tate, Lebron, Matthews, Gordon, and Wood along with some strategic offseason acquisitions could make them formidable and much closer to championship contention than what they have right now.
even though we are coming out ahead on value ... I don’t like the idea of moving our assets now for a win-now move . Do we really see us contending with 2nd year guys and AD ? How much will AD buy in for ? Or is the plan to move him for a future haul ? AD is a depreciating asset . He can play , but for how long and how hard with us ... what’s our ultimate ceiling ? I think you are massively overrating our guys value . Even though LAL gets a lot of “depth” .. they’d rather get premium assets back for AD if possible . We would need to add mutliple more firsts possibly our top pick this year too . Idk what LAL are thinking . Also I just really wanna hold onto Tate . lol and somehow you also trade them wall . Bro ...
