Posted part of this in the Trade Package thread, but probably more relevant here... In his first draft Caserio's team showed an ability to find talent in each round (despite no 1st or 2nd). My son and I have been draftnik's of sort for years and to find immediate contributors at all 5 picks (that late) is exceedingly rare. I'm truly looking forward to see Mills, Collins and Jordan grow in year 2! I'm also interested to see if Lopez and Wallow can make any kind of jump. Flash forward to now and we have to be excited about what the draft can bring to our team... - 2 1sts (3 and 13), Houston has never had 2 picks this high in same draft in our history (Oilers or Texans) - 1 2nd (37), traditionally some very good talent at top of the 2nd and we could use a 3rd to jump in late 1st if we see someone we want - 2 3rds (68 and 80), we got Mills and Collins in the 3rd last year - 1 4th (108) - 3 6th (183, 205, 207) I thought one of these were traded for Cashman, but don't see anyone reporting. Here I'd love to see us double down on a position or two of need looking for gems like Roy Lopez turned out to be. - 1 7th (245) That's 10 picks my friends and a 100% increase over last year's draft. I can get excited about that and what Caserio is able to do with those picks.
Was just thinking the same thing. Draft and stash for a year and let him rehab. Gives us another potential Rd 1 impact player coming into 2023 on defense.
The third would be too high, if he's there in the fifth round absolutely but this is a rebuilding team so a player drafted in the third needs to contribute this season
I’m so conflicted about Hamilton. I’m a ND guy, so I’m obviously a huge fan. However, I also believe that, if you land a top three pick, you should target one of four “premium” positions: QB, pass rusher, tackle, or WR. Maybe a CB, but not a safety.
I don’t care if Hamilton turns out to be the next Ed Reed/Troy Polamalu. There’s no way you can justify taking a safety with the third pick.
Lawrence played with a coach who didn't care and was too busy hitting on women. I'll give him a pass for year one.
Huh? Tyrod was playing decent to start the season. Do you not remember these games? https://www.pro-football-reference.com/boxscores/202110030buf.htm https://www.pro-football-reference.com/boxscores/202110170clt.htm https://www.pro-football-reference.com/boxscores/202110240crd.htm
I remember every game lol. Tyrod had one of the worst games ever against Miami. Mills had some stinkers but he also had some of the best games ever for a rookie too. Just say you don’t like him and you don’t want him to succeed. There’s quite a few of y’all on here. Datrocketfan, HardenVolumeOne, HLM All have one thing in common.
Im not saying either one. I just don't think the Texans are lucky enough to get their franchise qb in the 3rd round. History is against us. He looked amazing last year against the patriots and some teams. But he also literally looked like the worst player in the league some games. I have no idea what he will be. Hope I'm pleasantly surprised but what good qb has swings like that.
