I agree the return was less than many of us wanted, but it is super hard to gauge what they should have gotten. There's no precedent in professional sports history for a player of this caliber with this level of off-the-field concerns getting traded with a no-trade clause on his contract. It's just a weird situation, I'm not sure we'll ever see anything like this again. Did Watson have more leverage? Did Caserio have more leverage? How much of a factor were the allegations and the potential for a suspension? Did Cleveland offer a significantly worse package than the other teams? I don't know the answer to those questions, and I'm inclined to just give the front office a "C-" and just be glad to get rid of the headache and be able to move on with more draft capital than they had 24 hours ago. Watson's gone. The rebuild can begin. Let's judge Caserio by what he can do with this roster moving forward.
