Not defending the Deshaun trade, but Wilson is more proven, far less risky, and Broncos were uber desperate hours after losing their dream date Rodgers. That was a steep price the Broncos paid to go all in.

But Wilson is about 5 years older as well. Deshaun definitely has alot more football and a higher ceiling.
And... we got less than we hoped. It was pitched as "a Herschel Walker" trade. But folks have to go back and see what DAL got for Walker: 3 1sts, 3 2nds, a 3rd, a 6th and players: LB Jesse Solomon; LB David Howard; CB Issiac Holt; DE Alex Stewart. From those picks and subsequent moves, DAL got Emmett Smith, Russell Maryland, Kevin Smith, and Darren Woodsen. Hoping that Watson gets suspended by the league, but being a Texan fan, I have a sneaking suspicion that based on CLE's quick contract renegotiation CLE got word from the league that Watson won't be suspended... at least not for a significant part on 2022. Life as a Texan fan...
I watch a game or two when I see folks hype up mills just to see him sht the bed. U should watch the Rockets rebuild it is a lot more exciting than the church of Texans.
Yes those are the pros for Deshaun. There are also cons and significantly different context. I think Wilson is actually like 7 years older. But Broncos were desperate.
Watson had total control on where he went and the Browns knew this. Atlanta could have offered 6 first round picks and it wouldn't have mattered if Watson wasn't getting the same type of contract he got from Cleveland. The Browns gave Watson a ridiculous contract offer and as a final FU to Houston he may have told Cleveland and Houston he would only ever waive his no trade for them so Cleveland adjusted accordingly.
For you smart people.... Is the Texans cap cleared of Watson's contract or is there some 'dead money' still affecting it?
