It's so obvious that she is not as bad as Hitler that it would take a complete moron to intentionally misunderstand what I meant. Then again, some hysterical people from the left compared Bush or Trump to Hitler on this forum, so maybe I shouldn't be surprised.
I know plenty about history, and have read plenty of books about WWII. You show how little you know about Trump, when I say he is like Hitler in the manner of using his tactics to get what he wants. Goebbels and Hitler played on the fears and hopes of the German people, who had been humiliated by the loss of World War I. Lies, fear mongering, and propaganda. Trump does it for a different reason. He wants the fame, the glory, and to live and rule like a king forever. He uses the tactics to manipulate the people into believing in him, to get their votes. He uses the tactics and manipulation to get people to echo his lies, and get their votes. He used those tactics for months leading up to the election, in fear of losing, so he could get his believers to help overturn the vote and stay in power. Propaganda and lies, repeat, propaganda and lies, repeat. Spread hate towards anyone who questions the truth. Bully them, belittle them. Try to make them look weak. You saying you don't like Trump but like DeSantis is hilarious. That party stood by and watched him spread those lies, propaganda, and fear. They echoed the lies in their own states. They rallied with him, partied with him, and held fundraisers with him. The GOP was part of it They knew what he was doing was wrong and deceitful. He took it to the extreme on Jan 6th. They knew it, and denied it. Many were a part of it. The scary part is it almost worked. They did it once, and will do it again! Greed, quest for power, and lies. You can't separate them now, as they try and change their tunes to get power themselves. Hypocrites. You live in America? No.
Trump has definitely earned comparisons on certain attributes, and Hitler gives stark warning signs about what comes next in certain areas of Americans don’t take him seriously. But there are areas where they are completely different when they were in power. Say what you want about Trump but the man is a dove when it comes to waging war although his talk about what we should with Mexico and praising Putin is alarming even if he’s not serious. However he’s certainly earned the comparisons in terms of being a grievance driven demagogue who uses race and “the other” to drive his base towards extremism and violence. If given the chance Trump would be a 2025 version of Hitler in a lot of ways and us Americans can’t be scared to overstate how dangerous he is. The guy came very very close to toppling our democracy.
Yesterday, the House voted 424-8 for suspending normal trade relations with Russia and Belarus, which allows POTUS to temporarily increase tariffs on products coming from them and to require the US to suspend Russia's participation in the WTO. 8 House Republicans voted against it. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia Rep. Matt Gaetz of Florida Rep. Lauren Boebert of Colorado Rep. Thomas Massie of Kentucky Rep. Andy Biggs of Arizona Rep. Dan Bishop of North Carolina Rep. Glenn Grothman of Wisconsin Rep. Chip Roy of Texas Text - H.R.7108 - 117th Congress (2021-2022): To suspend normal trade relations treatment for the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus, and for other purposes. | Congress.gov | Library of Congress Russia, Belarus lose "most favored nation" trade status in a House-approved bill : NPR The House of Representatives overwhelmingly approved legislation suspending normal trade relations with Russia and Belarus, another move by Congress designed to squeeze Russia's economy as its military continues assaulting Ukraine. The U.S. currently extends "most favored nation" (MFN) status to all countries but two, North Korea and Cuba. The White House backs the bill, sponsored by Ways and Means Committee Chairman Richard Neal, D-Mass., and the top Republican on the panel, Rep. Kevin Brady, R-Texas. It gives President Biden authority to increase tariffs on products from the two countries through January 1, 2024. It also suspends Russia's participation in the World Trade Organization. It indicates that the president can restore trade relations if Russia and Belarus cease all aggression against Ukraine, but establishes a process for Congress to block that if it disagrees. "We must do everything in our power to hold Russia accountable for the atrocities it is committing hourly in the nation of Ukraine," Neal said on the House floor. Brady noted that there is bipartisan, bicameral support for the effort and that as a result, "American dollars will no longer fund Russia's war machine." The only lawmaker born in Ukraine, Rep Victoria Spartz, R-Indiana, said the vote was sending a message to the two countries. She noted that the leadership of Belarus allowed Russia to place rockets in their country used to attack Ukraine and that Russia and its allies cannot expect "business as usual." "If they want to have peace it better be soon, and they better get to the table and stop this insanity in killing of the Ukrainian people," Spartz said. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., has said he wants the Senate to take up the measure soon but has not specified a timeline for action.
1- I think this is in response to anti-missile system coming to Ukraine. Why are these kinds of things made public? Just do it privately. 2- Kind of meaningless when everything not moving or moving in Ukraine is a 'legitimate' military target by the Russian military. 3- Russian military is concerned about Ukraine's ability to block long-range missiles attack, one of the very few things "working" (though there is a report that they are running out of their missiles stockpile after launching more than 1000 of them).
This is Russia acting with some much needed thoughtfulness, attention to detail and self control. This situation is on the verge of WWIII here, and we are effectively doing all that is legitimately required to kick that off in earnest with our ongoing and increasing military involvement, especially the delivery of weapons to the Ukrainians. The Russians are making clear here that they are going to target "the transporters" of the weapons, instead of the suppliers (us and the Europeans). That is very good news. It is positively surreal that the so-called "leaders" of our side seem to be chomping at the bit to engage in a way that actually provokes a full-front war with the Russians. We need to start acting in a more thoughtful way here, and not triggered by our emotions and propelled along by the emotional wave of the corporate and social media led mob.
They vote against anything Biden proposes. They do it for no reason other than to show they do not support anything Biden does. They show their allegiance is not to this nation. They show more support for Putin, which is scary as hell.
