Flip side is Stanek was very good, and if playoff Maton was an indication, that move was elite.

I didn't even consider the possibility that an overpay on a one-year contract could topple the entire sport of baseball.

They say there is no such thing as a bad 1 year contract.

    I don't agree

It should be " there is no such thing as a tragic death dealing one year contract"

    Boras working it.

I think Astro fans need to get ready for Peña as opening day SS.

Crane isn’t going to match a 10 year offer.

But apparently the Orioles original 10 year offer wasn’t enough so they have to increase it?

360 million floating around including an opt-out after the 4th year.
If that is correct he’s not coming back.

    Boras is working it.

At that point, the Orioles are merely bidding against themselves. Elias likely smarter than that but their owner may not be.

Boras would like you to think the Astros offered to compete with the first O’s offer.
For all we know, the Astros have always been at 160 for 5 years and have never budged.

By all means, continue to fight the good fight, then. You're posts will eventually make the difference and prevent that final bad contract that will bring the whole house of cards crumbling down.

Boras will get him the best deal in the place he wants to be, but if the O’s first offer wasn’t apparently good enough… its going to take a massive overpay with bidding against themselves to finalize something.

As his agent his job is to get the most $ he can for his client. This is NOT on Boras. If Correa wants to go to Baltimore than I say don't let the door hit your @$$ on the way out of town.

Meanwhile, while waiting on this cat all the key FA have signed with other teams.

Boy, is it going to get ugly in here if the Astros announce they signed Trevor Story.

It is strange that these Baltimore offers keep leaking but not a single leak of any Houston offers (other than there was going to be another one).

All things considered, that's nowhere near the worst thing that could happen.

I'd rather end up with Story for the right price than to get fully Beltran'd and end up with no one.

He's doing exactly what he's paid to do. He's gathering the best offers and letting Correa make the decision. Does he want the money or does he want to win more now? That's what it's going to come down to because Baltimore is going to have to blow everyone else out of the water to get him considering they're still years away from even being competitive in their own division.

If the owners need my advice, they're doomed anyway. They have to be moderately intelligent businessman to be successful. I'm just offering basic perspective which is often entirely lacking on a message board.

Why should you care? It's not your money. That's the attitude of a fan, not a businessman.
