If Correa gets signed for a year, we could theoretically trade him at the deadline and at least get something for him instead of losing him for nothing. If this team isn’t a contender at the deadline, that could be a silver lining, and if they are in it, maybe he pushes them over the top.

Any guess what our bullpen looks like on, say, July 1?

    I'll guess:

    CL: Pressly
    8th: Maton
    7th: Neris
    6/7/8: Stanek/Montero
    Middle/Mop up: Baez/Dubin/Taylor

I'm assuming Javier will be starting due to some rotation injury.

    9: Pressly
    Setup: Neris, Maton, Baez
    Middle: Stanek, Montero, James
    Multi-inning: Javier

But it’s impossible to predict. There’s a dozen minor league arms who could come up. They could make a trade. A lot of guys could get hurt.

What would your line-up look like?

    1. GURRIEL, Yuli 383 OBP (CC 366)
    2. BREGMAN, Alex 365 OBP (CC 366)
    3. TUCKER, Kyle143 OPS+ (CC 131)
    4. ALVAREZ, Yordan138 OPS+ (CC 131)
    5. ALTUVE, Jose 489 SLG (CC 485)
    6. BRANTLEY, Michael 467 SLG (CC 485)
    7. CORREA, Carlos 131 OPS+, 366 OBP, 485 SLG
    8. STRAW, Miles 85 OPS+ (CC 131)
    9. MALDANADO, Martin 58 OPS+ (CC 131)

    Correa BOP-PA (5-222,6-186,3-93, 4-71, 2-49, 1-16, 7-3)
    Gurriel BOP-PA (5-264,3-153, 4-109, 6-37, 2-27, 7-15)
    Bregman BOP-PA (3-292, 2-68, 6-21, 4-14, 5-4, 9-1)
    Tucker BOP-PA (6-249, 7-147, 5-89. 4-53, 1-12, 2-9, 3-6, 8-1, 9-1)
    Alvarez BOP-PA (4-438,3-84, 5-46, 6-17, 2-8, 8-3, 7-1, 9-1)
    Altuve BOP-PA (1-676, 6-1, 8-1)
    Brantley BOP-PA (2-405, 3-69, 1-10. 6-9, 4-8, 7-4, 9-3)
    Straw BOP-PA (1-286, 8-275, 9-28, 7-24, 2-19, 5-6, 4-0)
    Maldenado BOP-PA (9-372, 8-49, 7-4, 1-1, 4-0)

If anybody should be upset about hitting too low in the BO, it's Tucker.

I am totally happy with their bullpen. If they could add a dominant lefty like Hader is about the only thing I’d want them to do but that’s almost overkill.

There are so many guys they don’t even have room for on opening day who have very high ceilings as bullpen arms: Abreu, James, Dubin, Whitley, Paredes, Blanco, and Taylor. And in the 2nd half their could be even more: T Brown, Endersby, Melendez, and Macuare. (I’m viewing other good arms like Solomon, Ivey, Bermudez, Bielak, and H Brown as SP only for now).

If you don’t have Marshall Bryant on ignore you are doing everyone else on this site a tremendous disservice.

Straw actually got more starts last year at CF than any other CFer. I didn't feel like taking the time to make a composite CFer.

I'll guess our July 1 lineup:

    1. Meyers CF
    2. Altuve 2B
    3. Alvarez DH
    4. Correa SS
    5. Tucker RF
    6. Bregman 3B
    7. Brantley LF
    8. Gurriel 1B
    9. Maldonado C

Torn labrums are always scary, but I had a ton of belief in Jake before the injury and I think he recovers and fully takes over the CF spot as a breakout star.

How can Straw be in the Astros lineup since he plays for Cleveland?

I think they find something in Goodrum:

    2B Altuve
    RF Tucker
    3B Bregman
    DH Alvarez
    SS Correa
    LF Brantley
    1B Gurriel
    CF Goodrum
    C Maldonado
    Bench: Meyers, Diaz, Castro, McCormick

He is intriguing as a center fielder. His ISO in '18 and '19 was .187 and .173 respectively, which is around where guys like Justin Turner, Bo Bichette, and Franky Lindor ended up last year. He's always had a BB% around 9-10% and he's fast. So pop + speed + OBP potential + premium position = I can see the optimism.

I think the CFer will be stuck in the 8 hole until they shoe sustained production.
    1. Altuve R
    2. Tucker L
    3. Gurriel R
    4. Alvarez L
    5. Correa R
    6. Brantley L
    7. Bregman R
    8. CF
    9. Maldonado R

But that's just Dusty and his love for alternating lefties and righties.

Switch hitter best hitting left vs right. He's good at the Sac Fly too. I think you're on to something.

Do you still have Straw on the roster?
