I think it goes without saying- but the Reds are the worst run organization in the league IMO. Castillo could fetch them some solid prospects as he has 2 years of control left. I guess they can wait until the deadline, but I haven’t been impressed at all by the packages they received for winker/Suarez, and Sonny Gray.
It’s been reported Framber will debute a new cutter with help from Garcia. That would be a big development for him if he can make it work.
I’m actually very intrigued by the addition of the cutter with Framber. Obviously, his control has always been the main concern- and he’s made some real overall strides over the past couple years. The one thing I will say- is that when certain teams have taken an “oppo” approach with him, he’s been hit hard in a few games. Particularly with his sinker. His sinker and change up tail away from RHH and he’s been slapped hard the other way at times. His curve is nasty and I wouldn’t call it a true 12-6 breaker but it has a very downward trajectory. The cutter can be very effective coming in on RHH and if he can utilize it and control it properly to go along with the rest of his arsenal, he can take his game to another level
Guy who knows stuff (and I can personally vouch for him having met him a couple times and corresponded with him a bunch) says correa for a straight 1 year deal and a shitload of money is wrapped up unless something crazy happens. So there is that.
That’s the number I was expecting/saw elsewhere. He didn’t specify the number just that it was basically a done deal. Basically done and done aren’t the same- but he’s not making the deal up.
Hope it's true. Guess it means we have to deal with the same song and dance next year, but I'll take it.
There are some unbelievably poorly run teams right now. The Reds, Rockies, and Diamondbacks are just clueless.
That would justify his $450M contract desire next season. But $35M puts him at the top of SS, (Lindor $34.1M); $36M at top of Position, (Trout $35.541M); and $45M top of everyone (Sherzer $43.34M.) $45 just seem too much. He's not Ohtani unless he took up pitching over the off season.
all those other guys are on long term deals for a lot of years. Think Bauer’s deal. 2 years 85 or something was what it was meant to be with a bullshit players option that was only meant to be taken if his arm fell off. Even scherzer is on what- 3 years?
Yeah- probably because he is suspended. But it was 2/85 with a third year player option bringing it to 110. The plan was always for him to decline the player option.
Ehhh. I think that's just a testament to how deep this team is. Any other team Correa went to he'd bat 3-5.
