I don’t know who said it…but credit to someone here that did..but hopefully a given this ends and we aren’t all burned up and set on fire and eviscerated…I am hoping for a movie made one day about this in my lifetime.

I really can’t help but feel for the innocent people. The image of the dead 6 yo that reminded me of my own girl when she was six…the unicorn pants bloodied. The little pink coat worn for the last time. As I said before this Earth didn’t deserve her …smh That image stays with me and that is nothing compared to the horror those people have endured

Again, you can not consider Russia to be an honest broker or trust anything that Putin says.

If there is a brokered ceasefire it will need to almost certainly involve peacekeepers and/or a unilateral Russian withdrawal. Otherwise you have to assume it's just Russia buying time for something.

Longer term, I don't think Russia will try to put Ukraine under its heel. The invasion will be a defeat for Putin on the world stage so what does he walk away with here? He's going to have to get some territorial concessions along with some kind of agreement for Ukraine to remain a neutral state.

I would bet Putin isn't ready to withdrawal though so I am not sure anything will come out of this in the short term but lets hope otherwise.

I think the smart play for the US is too encourage an arrangement for peace between the Ukraine and Russia, whatever that looks like....but I think the Western world has incredible unity and economic power right now and should look to separate those sanctions from the negotiations. If Russia wants those sanctions lifted, they can negotiate with us, and we can dictate what we want.

Yup, Ukraine should realize deals are worthless when you get invaded. Back everything up with guarantees of boots on the ground...

Russia started the Ukraine Invasion saying Ukraine is not a real country but a Russian territory. Now you Russia is demanding that Ukraine is neutral country like Sweden.

All the while, Russia has most of its ground forces in Ukraine and is on the “offensive”. Russia should demand that they get everything that they wanted at the start or they will keep bombing civilians. Russia is not, so it looks like they are desperate for an off ramp from this cluster****.

    It is truly tragic.

Sadly, this has happened so often throughout history in so many places, on a scale that is mind-boggling. Millions of children have been bloodied through various conflicts - shot, tortured, raped, bludgeoned, impaled, starved, and many many other horrors. Syria, Afghanistan, Iraq, Yemen, and many places in Africa all have seen large scale horrors committed against children - and these are just the places in the last few years.

Hunt for the $200bn fortune of the 'world's richest man' - who takes 50% of EVERY ruble made in Russia and hides it with help of mistresses, KGB cronies and school friends.

Putin's millions stashed in London to be frozen by UK's new 'kleptocracy' unit
A team is expected to identify any assets owned by Vladimir Putin in the UK, after the Russian leader built up a vast personal wealth during his time in the Kremlin.

Technically, this future deal is already invalid because the Ukrainian "president" is an American fascist puppet proxy.

Ewe sheeple haven't already realized it but i have my highly placed sauces...

Putin tore up international agreements and the 1994 agreement to not attack Ukraine. They rightfully will not trust Putin and will want real security guarantee that isn't based on trust.

However, the nature of western guarantees for Ukrainian security — and their acceptability to Moscow — could prove to be a big obstacle to any deal, as could the status of the country’s territories seized by Russia and its proxies in 2014. A 1994 agreement underpinning Ukrainian security failed to prevent the Kremlin’s aggression against its neighbour.

Although Moscow and Kyiv both said they had made progress on the terms of a deal, Ukrainian officials are sceptical Russia’s President Vladimir Putin is fully committed to peace and worry that Moscow could be buying time to regroup its forces and resume its offensive.

“There’s a likelihood this is trickery and illusion. They lie about everything — Crimea, the build-up of troops on the border, and the ‘hysteria’ over the invasion,” said a Ukrainian source briefed on the talks.

“We need to put pressure on them until they have no other choice” but to agree a peace deal, the person added.

Sickening and heartbreaking isn't it? I saw clips of that video earlier. Just barbaric war crimes. I wish more Russians would surrender, and not take part in this horrific attack. They have to know more than Hitler's brainwashed and deceived soldiers knew.

On the sunnier and maybe unlikely side: If somehow Putin agrees to some agreement and stops the war, and the peace could hold significantly long enough for sanctions to ease... I wonder if the stank on Russia and Putin will persist for all sorts of businesses, companies, and investors who have a choice, sanctions or no. I mean... my interest in ever visiting parts of Russia as a tourist (which was non-zero) is now absolutely zero. I wonder how or how long this stupid and costly attack affects other, much-more-influential people.

Anyway, I agree with those who think these negotiations are a ruse to make Russia look less insane. I mean, these are the same people running with internet memes for official state communications, so... (I mean, ... not that we weren't doing that under a certain orange man's administration, LOL, but you know.)

Awful. We've learned to doubt such inflammatory tweets/images/stories for at least a couple of days, but let's say it's true. Russia has bred a nearly eternal insurgency at this point and probably created some serious domestic issues for themselves in the future as well, with bombs going off in Moscow and what-not. SMDH. Putting their country back several decades, at least.
