    it's not much of a discussion when Mobley still the clear significant favorite who will win roy. The "catching up" logic doesn't mean much at all. If there was an actual 2/3 headed race towards the finish line, then it would probably be an actual topic of discussion

    I agree he's the favorite but my point was that Barnes has actually had just as good a year, if not better, when looking at actual numbers/performance.

    We all know most of these awards are narrative-driven and Mobley has had the "better" narrative. No one expected anything out of the Cavaliers a the beginning of the season while Toronto was expected to be in the playoffs. Then Cleveland started out red hot, Mobley playing really well, etc. I do agree that Barnes' numbers are very comparable to Mobley but he's not going to generate enough media attention to make Mobley sweat in the ROY race.
