This is interesting. If I was the Texans I would take Matt Ryan and flip him for more picks. Hell I would trade him to the colts if they were interested.
The fact that the 3 teams in the same division are fighting for Watson is exciting. Which one is willing to offer that fourth first round pick?
Falcons have the 8th(1st), 43rd(2nd), 58th(2nd), 74th(3rd), 113th(4th) picks (and I’m assuming all future year picks + 2023 4th from Tennessee) Surely Matt Ryan would be on the move (don’t think here to Houston but maybe to Indy or one of these other QB needy teams) Don’t even know who they would trade. … Kyle Pitts? CB AJ Terrell? CB Kendall Sheffield? Grady Jarrett? Deion Jones? (Last two are veterans, 28 & 27 years old) OL Kaleb McGary? OL Chris Lindstrom? OL Matt Hennessy? LB Mykal Walker? S Richie Grant?
Best thing about a potential Falcons trade is that even with Watson I don’t think they will be all that good next year. So next years first could be a top 15 or 18 pick.
https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id...vals-pursuit-houston-texans-qb-deshaun-watson The Atlanta Falcons have emerged as a sleeper team in pursuit of Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson, league sources told ESPN. The Falcons join the Carolina Panthers, New Orleans Saints and Cleveland Browns as teams that have met with or are interested in trading for Watson. "All options are open ... but it's not going to be easy," a Falcons source said in regards to a potential Watson trade. Another source described the Falcons as a "longshot" to land Watson, however the team still has not met with Watson, but could have the chance to persuade him in person. Trade compensation is not expected to hold up any potential trade, as parameters of any trade that would involve the quarterback are already in place, league sources said. The last piece of any potential trade would be Watson agreeing to waive his no-trade clause so that he could be dealt to another team and resume his NFL career.
Even before Tompa Bay unretired, Tampa was rumored to have interest. Saints and Panthers have a vested interest, and now the Falcons do, too? Pretty funny to see the entire NFC South be linked to wanting Deshaun, at one point.
Assuming Pitts is a player traded to the Texans, Deshaun is definitely not waiving his NTC to go play on a Ridley-less, Pitts-less team in a division with Tom Brady (for the time being, at least).
And none of the players around the league have lost respect/ disappointed forDeshaun, teammates here, ex-teammates over there, players in Indy, texting with the saints. It's like nothing happened.
To be fair, it's different when you're a player (brotherhood and all that) versus if you're a fan from the outside looking in. It's a lot easier to turn a blind eye to a co-worker that represents a good chance at competing for the superbowl, versus rooting for a guy. Is that morally right? Not really. But when we're all competing for the same goal together, all a player should care about is your penchant for winning football games.
What’s the most unimpressive trade offer we’ve seen over the last couple of days? I’m expecting the Texans to take that one.
