Garuba simply needs to adjust to the speed of the game and develope a corner 3. He won't ever be an offensive weapon - but if he can defend the other teams best player, defend every switch and space the floor on offense, he will be an important role player. And I do believe he can practice 3s until he is about a 35% shooter, which is all he needs to be.
When you look at Garuba today vs. his highlights with Real Madrid, his conditioning looks much worse now. Almost like a very different player. Not the same athleticism, physique is weaker, etc. Just compare the above video to his possessions last night. He looks like he's put on weight, has lost muscle, and is just a much slower player on the court.
Meh... how could you compare the effort in a video of him being a cornerstone of the team vs playing garbage time? Plus he was playing as center in garbage time. And even so did a good job as you can see.
You can do this every draft, we’ve gotten really good production out of 3 of our 4 picks which is easily a successful draft Jones is 3.5 years older then Garuba, we have no idea what Usman will be looking like 3 seasons from now
Yeah I was mad about this too for a little while, but Garuba was drafted as a 19 year old and Jones is 23. There is almost a 3 and a half year age gap here.
Okay, fine, look at his G League highlights and compare the two players. I'm not talking about how he's playing. I'm talking about his physical conditioning, which from the earliest highlights I've seen with us, even in the G League, has been really poor by comparison to his highlights in Spain.
Garuba about to show the world he’s on Clint Capela’s level. If Silas let’s him play. So then again, maybe not. False alarm.
Ok but for each section of stairs he runs he eats an A1 Thick and Hearty Burger so it doesn't help too much.
never forget it took silas and lucas 6 months to get alpis conditioning right and he came here as the mvp of the 3rd beast professional league in the world... TAKE THAT FOR DATA
All these injuries he's getting, the ankle, the hand, etc. It's all poor conditioning. That's what the eye test is telling me. He really needs heavy run and lots of gym time before he can be a real contributor on the court. Coming into the season the highlights looked like he'd be a seriously athletic player if a little undersized. So a player Alpis size but with an athleticism closer to KJ Martin. Unfortunately he hasn't looked close to that, and he's got to get in shape before he'll be productive in the NBA.
